There was a 2015 Pro, on the 3rd Gen the Pro didn't start till 2017.

had a 2014 OFFROAD for 6 months, horrible rattles , noisy, rough riding, that green color that never looks clean.. traded it for a 2015 black pro, it was great upgrade over the offroad, actually kept it for 1 1/2 years, traded it for my 2017 cement Pro, had this over 2 yrs. you do the MATH. if i like something i keep it, if i dont i get rid of it.. Pro is more truck, thus costs more. slap some scs wheels. some grapplers, and some sliders, your done,, mine rides awesome, even with 10 ply nittos.. northeast PA. roads are the worst, will keep this untill toyota comes out with something worth trading my Pro in on. so far nothing in the future that i can see...

"side note ..i had a 2001 tacoma offroad for 11 yrs, thats what i traded in for the 2014 offroad, after a month , i wished i kept my 2001. lol"

    Like, so many.
I say the Pro is the right choice if you don't intended to mod it.

Lol, a year and a half is keeping it? I am only laughing because I, like you, have traded quick as of recent... and 18months is quick

Buy the OR (manual if possible) and put the 2015 TRD pro suspension on it. You will have basically the same setup but the cost of the suspension upgrade compared to buying the current gen TRD pro suspension will be about 1/2. Added bonus: you also won't have a silly fake "bro" scoop your truck.

As far as the comments towards build quality, there is absolutely no difference between the two. The PROs are not some premium hand-made product of a magestical luxury tacoma factory in Mexico or Texas. Remember, above all things, it is still a Tacoma, tried and true, and utilitarian in best form

I have a 17 TRD Pro, in retrospect I would get a long box TRD Offroad. I would get a fox lift kit, put some KO2's on that bad boy and call it a day. I hate to give up the TRD hood scoop, rigid fog lights, pro tuned exhaust and the blacked out lamps but I would have a long bed "PRO".

Get what you like. I liked the Pro...I got a Pro. Or you could get an off-road and make it look like a real Pro (Pro grill, fog and headlights, Pro Wheels, graphics, Fox suspension, Pro skid plate) like everyone else does...

Ohhhhhh you just aged yourself there buddy!
    P.s. you forgot the select,start

Edit...I guess I should contribute. If I could get my hands on one, I'd get the Pro. In a stick. But that's just me. Alas, I live in CA. The land of the $60k Toyota truck.

Yawn another exhausting thread where people perpetuate the $5-10k market adjustment BS.

Look, for the most part it’s a cosmetic package. If you like the sum of all parts then get it.... Or spend a bunch of money trying to look like one. I had a $6k gap between an OR and Pro at my dealer, it was a no-brainer.

If I was going to buy a truck with the intention to mod to death I’d get an SR5 rather than the second most expensive model.

Ditto. that's what I did. I'm on a camburg lift, 33"s, full skids, bumpers, sliders, 4.88s and arb's front and rear for less than my co-worker paid for his taco. It really just depends on if you like modding your truck or want it ready to go from the factory.

If you want the looks of the pro, get the pro. If you like the looks of the OR then get an OR and mod it's suspension to something nicer than the pro. It makes almost zero sense to buy an OR and add all the pro trim features (grill/ heads / tails, etc). If you want the looks of a pro and something nicer than the pro suspension, well, pony up.

    Working on them
Because with a Trd Pro you don't have to go buy a fake Pro grill, don't have to buy Pro Fog lights, Don't have to Buy Pro Shift knob, Don't have to buy suspension that Toyota won't warranty, Don't have to Buy Trd Pro Wheels, Don't have to buy the Trd Pro Hood, Don't have to buy Faux badges and a host of other things to look Like it is a Trd Pro.........:spending:

Now I am Not knocking the OR or any of the other models but in the long run many spend just as much if not more on their OR to get the same thing the Trd Pro already has.... yes yes you spend a little less for the Parts that you installed yourself and can consider overall it cost less if you do not place value on your time installing everything I have done it both ways the buy and build was fun as hell but I just don't have the time or desire to do that right now nor do I need the truck to look like something it is not.

1E9C3A53-F8F4-437A-A3ED-CB95D27121E3.jpg My other favorite reads... Pro owners who think a grille means people are turning their ORs into wannabe Pros.

I have a Pro grille on my OR, but I’m also the guy who debadged EVERYTHING because I’m not a pretentious trim snob lol

I fear I may be rattling on, but I can’t help but put this out there.

It isn’t at all us OR owners turning our trucks into Pros for cheaper. Rather, it is us turning our trucks into something BETTER for cheaper. Black Pro wheels, nope I want rhinos. Skid plate, nope I want armor. Predator steps, nope I want skids. Intake and exhaust, nope I want K&N and Borla, 1” of fox springs, nope I want 3. Same size tires, nope I want 33’s or better. Leather, hell no. Non-functioning hood scoop.... say what???? Oh a grille!?! Yeah that looks noce, I’ll take that for $200 OEM local dealer.

My truck looks like an SR5 with OR wheels and a Pro grille and I don’t give a shit!
