Hell, inside of 5 minutes I was able to locate an order sheet on one... maybe I am mistaken on how many hundreds followed the 38k in my MSRP.

I bought an OffRoad, added a Pro Grill and Leather seats and then added functional mods with the savings by not buying an appearance package

For all of the people trashing the TRD Pro, here is a comparison on kbb.com. 2018 TRD Pro vs. 2018 TRD Off Road. Both vehicles listed with standard equipment and 12000 miles. The prices listed are for Northern California private party sale.

Good luck with 8k in mods, I have sliders and an aluminum front bumper and I am at 3k already.

This is a forum, never bring facts that can be backed up, have you lost your mind. Cal1630 will probably be banned. He will be out in the desert with a cut wheel.

That looks about right, if you look at the percentage lost they are probably about the same.

Not doing bumpers. Everything already ordered, self install. I get you though.

Hard to demod with cut fenders if it came to that.

No one is trashing I hope. The return is still a percentage of what you paid, which gives you actual loss, and that is about the same

I paid 33 for my OR with options... But MSRP was 36 and change. So a 3k loss in a year on MSRP. I bet that is a little more than a pro, but not ridiculously so

I was very close to buying an off-road because I did want the four-wheel drive. However when I started looking at what it would cost me to get the off-road I wanted as equipped the pro was only 4 to 5 grand more. I've always bought a base model vehicle and built it as close to my liking as possible. The problem I've come across take suspension for example, unless you want to settle for a couple hundred dollar Skyjunker to go with Fox or King you're looking at dropping some dough even if you do it yourself.

You’re comparing a Pro model with a base Off Road model.
Wouldn’t it be a bit more accurate to compare the Pro with standard equipment to an Off Road model with the upgraded packages that would include items that the Pro has as standard?

I realize it’s just a comparison, but if you’re looking at depreciation, one must of course compare initial purchase price to used selling price.

Up here, the range for an Off Road model with Technology package, safety features and leather seats is $34,836.00 to $37,200 at one year old with 12,000 miles so it appears the depreciation from MSRP is similar after one year.

Also consider that one can easily purchase an Off Road model at $2,500 to $3,000 or more below MSRP.

Perhappppssssss butttttt nobody is buying a civic or normal integra at $63k or anywhere close, just saying......

    http://thedrive.com/news/23932/this...t-sold-for-63800-at-barrett-jackson-las-vegas

Once again, I'll never place the Pro anywhere in the rarity discussion with this car... BUT

Me, resale is the #1 reason I bought a Tacoma. Even better to buy one that I didn't have to waste time modifying... I get the hobby and the desire to do so, but I'm done working on vehicles.

I just checked KBB and private party value came in at $850 less than I paid for it, one year and 8300 miles later. Love these things. I fully intend on making this a 15 year vehicle.

LOL, yeah resale is phenomenal across the board with Tacos... I just wished dealerships gave a crap about KBB.

Out of curiosity I called my buddy at my local dealership, anything a year old with TRD (sport, or, pro) sells for about 1K off of a new models MSRP. While the pro’s percentile will be higher because 1k/~42k is a smaller amount than 1K/~36k, the actual loss is the same. Take into account the above comments (I paid more than 3K below MSRP) it all starts to even out in the end.

I will mod in some way, minor or major, every car I ever buy. I like not looking completely cookie cutter and I love making my impression. I am nearer to 40 than 30 at this point and have been the same way since tinkering on my 69 skylark as a kid. Not a reason to buy a car at all, but a decent reason to avoid the Pro in my case.

You are correct, I added nothing to the Pro and I added nothing to the Off Road. That is part of buying a Pro, all of the extras are included in the purchase price. If you add the leather and the tech package you are closer to the price of the Pro when you purchase new from the dealer.

That’s why we OR owners keep sounding like a broken record, because while we acknowledge your resale will be higher (man I hope so, you paid more) it is still fairly equitable. What everyone keeps forgetting to acknowlege is that while those FACTORY options (which do make a difference on resale) bring the vehicle up 2-3K in MSRP, we are paying 2-3K below MSRP regularly. If I pay 3K less than MSRP and my truck sells on a lot for 1-1.5K below that MSRP a year later..........

Not sure why folks get hung up on resale. You talk about how good Toyota is but then turnaround and want to sell it five or six years down the road lol. I saved up for a long time and sold a vehicle I put a lot into so I could write a check for mine. Unless I wreck it beyond repair or someone wipes it out. I truly want to get my money's worth out of it. I'm 35 and at minimum would like to get at least get to 60 when I retire.

This is an overly simplistic opinion that isn't entirely accurate. I worked as a mechanic putting myself through college, own a 500hp 1965 Mustang and do all of the wrenching myself, and I would prefer the PRO to modding myself. With the PRO you get an engineered package, one specific to your vehicle with hundreds of people working to make sure your system works as it's designed. Secondly, I would buy a used Pro all day long. I wouldn't buy 95% of the hack job lifts I see on this site.

Everybody has an opinion. A Pro would suit my off-road needs and I know more about modification than most. Just saying.
