One of the biggest reasons people give for buying a Taco is the resale value. This article debunks that as a reason to buy one over GM. Taco didn't even make the top 10!

Bilstein/Icon 2" suspension lift with wheelers 5 leaf springs, 7-pin relocate through bumper, bfg KO2s, redline hood struts, immryo mirror relocation, stubby antenna, dipped emblem, heated mirrors, Jason trek cap, led fogs, debadged
Those may be the 1 year depreciation numbers, but I doubt those would hold for 5 and 10-year.

If I had to guess I'd suggest that the general price increases from 2015 to 2016 tacoma models skewed the data. But in any case, only a fool would think that buying a range rover for it's resale value is a smart move...

Tacos are delicious, but they're hard to sell after you eat them.

Taco resale is the highest rated of any other vehicle sold, after 3 years retaining 73% of their value.

*Edit - Google says 74.9%. I was close...

"The Toyota Tacoma is the number one vehicle for resale of any type. It walks away with the win, scoring much higher than any other car or truck. According to KBB, the Tacoma retains 74.9% of its value after three years and 60.4% of its value after five years"

Or another way of saying it is 27% depreciation over 3 years. So $10k on a '17 Tacoma, that lot's 'o folks only have half paid for at that point.

    Stellar!

I would question Bankrate putting the F150 on that list. I priced them before buying my Taco. I looked at a 2016, $58,250 msrp, selling price of $48,700. I could buy the same equipped truck, a 2014 for $30,500 on the same lot.

What article are you referring to? I am not surprised to see a Wrangler or WRX on that list, but there is no way Nissan Frontier's hold their value better than Tacos.

    all tore up already
thats a moronic list. how did they come up with that bs? was curious about selling my truck and had it appraised last visit at 15k service. they offered 30,500 and thats 1100 less than i paid over a year ago. think the porsche 911 r wins though, first "used" one traded for approx 800k more than msrp

Exactly. Who gives a shit about 1 year values? In 5 years all those domestics will be falling apart and worth less than scrap metal.

People who switch brand new cars every year don't care about resale value.

See my post for 1 year. Tacoma still has higher resale after 1 year. The OP has posted something that has 0 credibility.
