The cam is a failure point and can be knocked flat on a dirt road depending on how heavy your rig is. Each their own just giving you a heads up.

I think Firestone's lifetime alignment poses a greater risk to the cam tabs than the terrain I usually deal with. I figure removing the LCA adjustment option will essentially force them to use the SPC UCAs for alignment, as intended.

Yea, the 'alignment tech' world is definitely a 'spectrum'. Seen plenty of images of tabs hammered flat to 'get it back into spec'...a lot of those shops have a turn and burn high pressure mentality which doesn't usually mix well with modified and well-used off road cars.

You didn't change from the rear max/front neutral did you?

I did not. I did a bunch of stuff at the same time, so this was apart of my suspension rebuild. I settled on rear max and neautral front. Dont be afraid of driveway alignments they are tedious but worth it to not have a jackass do it at a shop. No one will take care of your truck better than you. Well hopefully

I'm thankful every day that the tire/alignment shop right by my house is full of toyota nerds. One of the few shops I actually feel good about leaving my truck with for stuff.

Your camber/caster numbers are way better than mine! Here's what I've got (same tabs; Neutral Front, Max Rear)

    IMG_4470.jpg

Based off of those numbers, @Andy@Poly or anyone else, do you think I should swap out the Passenger front tab to a Max setting to get my camber back closer to positive? If I'm reading the taco tabs instructions right, replacing it w/ a max tab should get me 3/4* more, hypothetically giving me about -0.4, correct?

I think you should swap the front out for a max inward one. And when you say rear is max, you mean outward?

Yea, when I say going to max for camber, I mean placing in the outward position. (Based off of this diagram on the instructions) Wouldn't going to an inward position up front give me more negative camber than the -1.1 already?

Here's the way I understand it. When you make the LCA longer, you're making camber more negative because the lower ball joint is further outward than the upper ball joint. So in your case, your LCA is too 'long' and you want to suck it inward to get more neutral. I could be off base here, but messing around with my poly tabs, this is how I understand it.

edit: their instructions are saying what I'm saying. It says the orientation are viewed from the front of the truck. So going inward would get you more positive camber.

Moving the front inward will lean the tire out at the top. (More positive camber) that will also increase the caster, which will be good in your case. Do it.

Yea, I think you're right and looking at their diagram, it appears the "camber" and "Caster" tab's max and min settings are reversed from one another, so Max "camber" setting is actually the Inward position up front.

Got it, Thanks guys! Not enough concentration on the instructions on my part. Front passenger side going inward first chance I get.

If you plan on getting your alignment checked again after, I would be curious to see how much the numbers changed based on that one change.

Yes, definitely going to get it back on the alignment rack to see how it changes things. The alignment was relatively inexpensive anyway and he also said if I make any changes w/in a few months to just come back and he'll hook it up.

Awesome, thanks. I wonder if changing just the front to inward will be enough, which is why I was asking. If you still have too much negative camber, you can move the rear cam to the neutral position and that'll bring the camber more positive as well.

Very true. However, moving the rear cam is also going to decrease caster, which could put it quite a bit below the left side. Since you only get 3 choices per cam, you’re definitely going to have to settle for less than ideal. Has the ride height been checked? If the left side is lower than the right, that would cause the numbers you have.

Yea it'll be interesting to see how much that single change moves the numbers. Hoping the one change is enough, but I'll bring the other tabs with me as well in case we need to make further adjustments there instead of going back and forth to the shop.
