    Hi there,

I am learning as I go.

There are a few things I need to address in my truck, mostly cosmetic, and I wonder if any of you could point me to a cheap supplier, have parts to sell, or else.

For many things in life I use ebay and aliexpress for the ones that are not needed in a hurry. I also do Amazon sometimes. So, obviously have checked those sites already to have an idea about prices.

Anyway, here is my list of things.

    1. Check engine light error P0133 so I guess I will need to start looking for an oxygen sensor.

    2. My brakes are sluggish. If I press the brakes very lightly I can feel uneven drag as in disk rotors bent or brake pads worn.

    3. Windscreen wiper reservoir, the one with the long neck. And cap.

    4. Radiator reservoir.

    5. Grille.

    6. The plastic clip that secures the rod that keeps the bonnet up.

    7. Stereo knob, it is the original toyota stereo the power/tune knob is missing.

    8. Need to find a solution for aerial, the original is missing.

    9. left door emblem.

    10. right door emblem.

    11. trunk door emblem.

    12. I do not think I have the original tools that came with the truck and would love to see a pic of the toolkit.

    13. would love a rear window that can be opened but not sure if it is worth it.

May add to list as I find out new things.

Any recommendations, advise, tips, leads for inexpensive parts suppliers, greatly appreciated.

I would also love to get my hands on a service and a parts manual.

    Thanking all in advance...

Don't get 02 sensors from fleaBay or Amazon you may get counterfeit parts. Buy from Rockauto or Densoproducts.com . A pick and pull salvage yard search or part out on TW Gen1 parts for sale may be helpful.

I looked through your parts and unfortunately I don’t have any of them in stock. The door emblems can be had new for about $40 a door.

Hi there on my list of things to do I am tackling the windscreen wiper reservoir, and I have found a cheap part online.
My car being a 1999 Taco 2.4L std cab.
I do not see a fluid warning light in the cockpit, is it fair to assume that I do not have a sensor in said part?
    I am checking at this:

    1999 Toyota Tacoma
    [IMG]
    SKU: TO1288181
WINDSHIELD WASHER TANK WITH CAP/INLET; WITHOUT COLD WEATHER PACKAGE
    34.98

No idea either what "without cold weather package" means but being in Florida not a lot to worry.

Anyone with a 1999 Taco out there who can confirm I need a reservoir without sensor hole?

    Thanks

Also I have the drivers "weather strip" pain, my drivers window rattles like hell, specially when half down, any cheap fix to it?

On the subject of windows, would a split window at the rear, the ones that open, would increase my air circulation with the drivers window slightly down? I do not like the aircon and avoid it most of times but not sure if this rear window will help ventilating the cabin, or it is for other purposes.
    Thanks

The washer fluid dashlight only indicates low washer fluid in reservoir. Your info says BASE model which would include no STOCK trim package add-ons from factory. Sliding rear glass don't increase airflow but do allow thieves easy access. @Muttley1

OMG, it is SUPER easy. It's a Tacoma reservoir so it literally bolts right in.

That link does make is sound more complicated than it really is. Here's mine:

The new reservoir contacted the ABS module bracket slightly, so I just bent it out of the way and used a rivnut to remount it. You could easily just use a sheet metal screw or something, too. You can see the original location of the bracket in the pic.

Then, in order to use the original reservoir pump/censor, I drilled a whole with a step bit ($5 from harbor freight) until the rubber gasket fit.

I had other motivations for moving the reservoir (tires/aftermarket bumper clearance), but I think it's a better overall location anyway.

    Hi Jbrandt

Yes I think it is a way better location and looks good also.

I do not think I have ABS on my truck and nor do I have a water level sensor for the windscreen water container.

Thankyou so much for going through my list and answering stuff, truly appreciated.

    Hi everyone!

I had Wednesday off so I did a bit of work on the truck. From my list green is solved and red is yet to solve.

    1. Check engine light error P0133 so I guess I will need to start looking for an oxygen sensor.

Got an original sensor on ebay delivered for $30, could not beat that anywhere. Tackled the issue by jacking up the car and removing the front right wheel.

The sensor nuts were fairly easy to take off, the gasket was so neat and firm in place that I decided against replacing it. Only thing that was a pain was to unplug the connector, I think I may have broken something but anyway, was clipped back and the darn check engine light is gone!

    2. My brakes are sluggish. If I press the brakes very lightly I can feel uneven drag as in disk rotors bent or brake pads worn.

Had a look at rotor when I removed the wheel and looks totally fine, also brake pads are at half of his life. Sluggishness on brakes seem to have diminished by 50%, maybe it needed use.

    3. Windscreen wiper reservoir, the one with the long neck. And cap.

I took the thing out. Watched a few videos bit in practice found out that was a very straightforward operation, removing 4 or 5 10mm bolts and then the part comes out with a black plastic cover.

The neck is completely shot and broke in my hand but the reservoir is in good shape and no leaks. I have cut the neck to 1 inch of the reservoir and I am thinking about using some flexible hosing like the one using in aquariums but of course of very large diameter, fit it in the neck stump and try to seal it somehow. A clamp cannot be used since the part is not round, it has a large flat side.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    4. Radiator reservoir.

This looks fine and I am not going to replace it.

    5. Grille.

Several of my grille tabs are broken, will try to figure a way to fix.

    6. The plastic clip that secures the rod that keeps the bonnet up.

    Not addressed yet.

    7. Stereo knob, it is the original toyota stereo the power/tune knob is missing.

I am still looking around and have not found anything online or offline to replace the missing knob. Anyone with a broken stereo around who can donate this?

    8. Need to find a solution for aerial, the original is missing.

I cannot even remove what is left and have no idea how. Also I do not know how new cars do with the aerials would like something that does not need to be pulled out and breaks like the old aerials.

    Ideas?

    9. left door emblem.

Not addressed yet as not vital.

    10. right door emblem.

Not addressed yet as not vital.

    11. trunk door emblem.

Not addressed yet as not vital.

    12. I do not think I have the original tools that came with the truck and would love to see a pic of the toolkit.

I was told there is no such a thing as a tool pouch supplied with the car. My manual says yes, however.

    13. would love a rear window that can be opened but not sure if it is worth it.

Was told by some of you that will not contribute to ventilation and facilitate undesired access, so gone.

    14. Fuel door lock missing.

Got a lock from a wrecker for nothing and rekeyed it to fit my existing keys, al done and only one key for all the locks!

By the way I bought on ebay an enormous box of wafers and if anyone needs these little things happy to supply at $1 each.

    NEW STUFF:

    15. Lost my wheel lock nut key!!!!

After doing the 02 sensor I fitted the right front wheel back in and someone distracted me. I forgot to remove the wheel lock nut key from the nut and allegedly drove off with it. When I realized my mistake it was too late.

I spent great part of yesterday retracing my steps in the hope that this thing would not be far away from the point of departure, but I have been unsuccessful.

I know wheel lock nuts are a thing of the past, and I have seen videos online about how to remove them without the key. But at this stage the most convenient is to find one.

Does anyone of you have one of these keys laying around? I believe the manufacturer is McGard, but I think they will charge me dearly for a replacement. Toyota still sells the kit for about $35, but then I will be have 5 extra lock nuts.

Ok that is all by now.

Thanks to all who chipped in with advise and ideas, it has been of great help.

Hi and thanks but I can get these locally from two sources, $100
As said I was told that these rear windows do not increase ventilation at all but facilitate thieves work.
    So, a no go.
    Thanks anyway.

    Thanks man.

BTW I already reached the 50 posts, yipeeee!

Geez, it took time. First I had to find a Tacoma, then buy it, then find credible problems, then fix problems but now, now now now I can concentrate in the real reason why I am here, to spam you all to death, muahahahahaha

A special hi! to whomever accused me of that about 25 posts ago,

some people here also a friend who's got a modern Taco told me it does not increase ventilation at all. For marginal results I open both cabin windows, and pronto!
