Did you exchange insurance information with the other guy? Was there a police report?

ok, i'm not trying to be rude or insulting, but it seems like from your posts that english is not your first language. is there any possibility that you're being taken advantage of? Maybe not a local or maybe you have an accent so people assume they can take advantage of you? like i said, i may be wrong and if i am i appologize, i just wanted to throw that out there

i dont know what you can do but if you have any close friends who use english as a first language you may want to have them listen in on your conversations with your insurance people and maybe come with you while your are at the body shops and stuff

Stop being so nice to the people taking advantage of you :D

It is a good point though, and honestly, would not surprise me. Ask to speak to a manager at the insurance company, explain the situation as best you can, explain that you feel like you're being taken advantage of because of your status, etc. I think it's pretty standard practice to total a vehicle if there's any frame damage, period. If they want to straighten the frame and sell it with a salvaged title, let it become their burden, but it should not be yours.

Just remember that if they tell you they can repair the truck it wont be with new parts... Make sure you tell them you want NEW parts and there won't even be a problem. Also it doesn't hurt to kiss some ass (Bring Doughnuts!!!!):D

I was in similar situation a couple of months back. I got pictures on here somewhere. Where are your pictures?

In my case I opted for frame straightening because the need to repair the frame would take months...and using the truck for work, I can't afford all that hassle.

Put some pictures up but hope you won't have to deal with frame replacement from Japan...which could take 1 month just to transport and 1 month installation.

I went to a Toyota dealer to get the quote and that is what he told me. That the frame will have to come from Japan on a ship and they need a have it on a big wheeler to bring to the dealer and have some crane to lift in onto the wheel base. It would take somewhere like 2 months. But this is brand new frame replacement not after-market. Looking at the complexity of the job in reference to my particular frame damage severity...I decided against it. Beside I don't trust them to put things just the way it is.

I found another dealer, straighten the frame a bit, put on a new bumper and called it a day. I understand the frame is compromised but at that particular spot I think I am fine. In fact, I just got rear-end again yesterday and I will put up some pictures for you...no frame damage this time.
