Hi, need advice, I'm planning to install just a Magnaflow muffler and a new tail pipe to save money since My Tacoma 2016 is new and all the tubing is stainless steel and new, is this a good idea, will I still get the raspy sound by just replacing the muffler, this job comes out to 230 instead of paying the 550 for the whole Magnaflow system, thanks in advance

Muffler and tail pipe is like 75% of the system. Not to mention almost all of the sound is due to the muffler in a catback so i would say yes.

I thought you were replacing the tailpipe? It may have one welded on already. To make it black you may want to consider painting it with black header paint. Especially since you will probably want more than just the tip painted after the first walkaround. It looks goofy having a black exhaust tip and then a bunch of visible stainless pipe.

Yes I'm looking for a nice black coated stainless steel pipe tip, so I can install the Magnaflow muffler and install the new black tailpipe tip ,

I dont think the pipe diameters are the same. The output from the muffler is 3" your stock tail pipe is 2" and the Magnaflow tailpipe has a new tip already welded on... at least mine does.

I believe the muffler inlet side is bigger than stock too and as Bob mentioned, the 3"output pipe has a chrome tip permanently attached.

For the little cost of a full catback, comparatively, you get the option to not have a hack job with rusty globby welds and raspy sound and can easily go back to stock if it sucks or you get tired of the drone. Such a big risk to save a couple bucks.
