I bought a brand-new Toyota Tacoma 2023 TRD Pro, and the transmission failed after two days in the middle of busy intersection. It took close to a month for Toyota to deliver me a new transmission. There was no sense of urgency on Toyota's part to fix the problem. I complained and then I received some nasty attorney type letter from Toyota basically saying they did nothing wrong. I figure they should pay for an extended warranty and up to two months payments at the very least. I mean if they believe in their product, they shouldn't have to worry about funding an extended warranty protection plan. They offered one month payment and basically said nothing to make me feel confident in the product I bought or in Toyota as a Brand. It was a real slap in the face, and I am stuck wondering when the next Toyota defect will surface. I guess Toyota Corp enjoys making their customers feel cheated. I would THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING A TOYOTA TACOMA!!!! In hindsight, it looks like there are a lot of posts out there related to their transmission problems and I should have listened. I hope you do if you are reading this. If my post costs them one new vehicle sale it was worth it. My guess is that it will cost them many new Tacoma vehicle sales. Toyota Corp’s customer service is certainly not there for the customer. At least I feel better from a sense of morality in warning others, which is something the Toyota Corp is lacking.

Railing on an enthusiast forum is unlikely to cost them any sales, but coming here first to research might have tipped you off to something and saved your rage. Some have been known to be a little low on transmission fluid, but that wouldn't blow it up in 2 days. You're the one in a million that got a defect, and Toyota is fixing it. It's disappointing sure, but the tirade is completely impotent.

Hondas have a few very low mileage Transmissions go out...the bad part is ,if they have a remanufactured trans they will send them...ive put reman transmissions in accords with less than 200 miles

Well hell, reminds me of my 05 4x4 I bought new and after a few months detected a whine at 50-55mph. Yep, bad transmission bearings. So stealership rebuilds mine. A few months later whine is back. Now they put in a "reconditoned trans". Same thing, anyway this thing ends up blowing an upper freeze plug (I'm in Florida) and leaking fluid all over driveway etc. Now the dumbasses had to replace everything in the clutch housing, disc, throw out bearing, the works. Never had problem again.
They were sooooo close to me hitting them with Florida Lemon Law.
Plenty of other issues to deal with over 17 years but way better than anything else on the road and I've owned a few. Have a 22 SR 4x4 15 months and so far good.

Yes that is correct... a manual transmission caused me so much grief.
My 22 is auto. Hope they take care of you.

No, this was corporate toyota. I dealt with them directly as did the dealership. The dealership was as shocked as I was by the lack of care and customer service from Toyota Corp.

Hope Toyota Corp treats you better than the way they did for me. Good luck

I agree this does blow .But like others have said , stuff happens and they fixed it . That’s what a warranty is for . One thing to remember is just because a tranny went bad , there is no correlation that the rest of the truck is bad . It’s just a defective part that they stood by it and fixed it . I don’t think they did anything wrong . What would you expect them to do ? Give you a new truck ? I would assume you had loaner car. I look at things differently . I sell construction equipment and stuff like this happens all the time .
Anyways I’m glad it got fixed .
I’m sure it will all work out .
