Check the wiring in your trailer connector/converter. I just had a similar problem and fixed it by resetting the converter connections.

 

can someone post a link im having a hard time finding these tail lights on ebay or Amazon. everytime i search em they say sold out or nothing matches.

thanks these say they fit all the way up to a 2014. will they fit my 2015? i dont think there is much of a difference in the trucks is there?

 

Should be the same tail lights for all 2nd gens to my knowledge. They have some pretty good photos of the back that you could pop yours off and compare the plugs and bolt holes.

 

yeah, ill have t read the return policy just in case it doesn't work. im kinda confined tot the couch for a few weeks just had foot surgery so cant real get around well. hahahahahaha thanks for the help btw

 

I have a long question on these LED conversions. I recently swapped out my stock third brake light to an LED version and it caused a major short in my system, it caused an error that caused the shift lock to stick and my brake lights to stop working. I went through the whole troubleshooting process as far as my skills would allow, questioned everyone on TW and ended up taking it to the stealership for them to tell me the LED caused the short. So I ended up reinstalling the OEM third BL. Still have the LED third BL.
Now, as with this LED light and any other LED lights we can replace, do we NEED to use resistors or decoders when we swap out the tails, heads or fogs in order to prevent errors? If anyone else here has swapped out to LEDs and had issues and used resistors or decoders to fix it, which ones did you use for which light? I want to swap out all my lights to LEDs.

 

No resistor needed for the fog lights.but I replaced my third brake light bulbs with led bulbs from superbbrightleds.com and I haven't had an issue yet.

 

These black depo tail lights do not require a resistor to work with the supplied bulbs. If you switch the turn signal bulbs to led you will need to get resistors, same on oem and this light. Sounds like either a faulty 3rd brake light or maybe an exposed wire possibly caused your issue. Which did you buy?

So they fit your 2015 as well even though the posting says up to 2014?
Just making sure in case I decide to purchase a set as well.

 

12-15 are identical. Idk why many listing stop at 14

Have any of you guys ever tried any other, more reputable brands that are slightly more expensive and therefore better quality?

I don't mind putting down a few extra bucks for a more reliable set.

 

I've had zero problems with my Depos, coming up on a year, and the overall material and quality are very good.

 

Guy at work brought a used Taco with aftermarket taillights. Wish I knew the brand cause they have a gray tint housing and all clear lens. Looks great too but unfortunately I don't know the brand. Probably going with depo when I have the money because the great reviews.

 

Money is no object when modifying my Tacoma. With that, these are the best looking and good quality tails imo. I had them installed for a few weeks now with zero issues.

 

mine have been installed since June 5th 2014 when I posted this thread, no problems at all with them.
