I agree. What got me wanting a truck so badly was the new Colorado. I liked the Z71 styling over the GMC Canyon's front end. However, in the end Tacomas had always appealed to me. And the track record of Toyota, and the Tacoma, and the much, much better resale value won the day. Plus I got a Tacoma for 4-5k less than I could have gotten a Colorado for.

The Canyon is a lot nicer looking than the Colorado. It almost looks like a mini Sierra (which I really like the looks of)
Interior of either blows the Taco out of the water. That's where Japanese vehicles always miss the mark.
The Tacoma wins when it comes to reliability and longevity.
I hope the gen 3 is more luxurious in the cab, but I'm not willing to bet on it.

I can see the criticism against the aging interior of the Tacoma - but, generally speaking, I couldn't disagree more.

I did a bit of comparing between the Colorado and the 15 Tacoma when I was in the market for a truck. I think the Colorados are pretty nice. The interior gets the nod over the Tacoma, but the Tacoma gets the nod in terms of exterior for me. I just like the look of the Tacoma a bit more. Furthermore, that front bumper trim hangs low enough that with it on the truck, it appears to have the clearance of a regular car. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Ultimately, I felt the *feel* of being a more purpose-built truck, resale value, and most importantly, positive past experiences with Tacomas and Toyota pickups drove my decision to chose the Tacoma over the Colorado. I couldn't be more happy with my decision. I really hope the Chevy does well though. The whole mid-size market segment could use a shot in the arm in terms of competition. A better Colorado means ultimately a better Tacoma and Frontier.

A buddy of mine got a new one at work. He's had in in and out of the dealer a lot with problems that are technology based. They aren't terrible looking, just not my cup of tea. The other day I saw one of these Colorados in an accident, I know the driver walked away but the truck was totaled. Very disappointed in what I saw, didn't seem to take a front end crash well. (3 cars quick stopped into the rear of each other). I know our Tacoma would fare much better. Though I might be biased lol.

An older gentlemen who lives in my subdivision has a new Z71 Colorado. When he drives by my house he always stares at my Tacoma. Probably thinking "damn I made the wrong choice".

I think when comparing a Tacoma to a Colorado one has to consider the use.

Do you want it to drive on the high way 95% of the time? Do you want it for comfort and tech? Do you want it for off roading? Do you want to drive a truck that drives like a car? Then it comes down to the like of the styling.

They are different styles of trucks IMO.

Very low supply of the new twins here in MA. Where the hell are they all going?
I've only seen one (colorado) on the road around here!

It is photoshopped. This picture appeared long before the 2016 tacoma was released. Not a real truck

Somebody at my office recently bought a Colorado and parked next to me. The back end sits oddly high.

I've noticed that too. The rear quarter panel behind the wheel on the Chevy is like twice the height (top to bottom) of the Tacoma's.

Man that is an ugly truck. I've seen them around here as well. I don't understand the draw at all, maybe the interior is far nicer than then Tacoma. I have no idea.

I've got an older neighbor with a new turd brown Colorado. He totally stares at my Tacoma every time he drives by.
