Alright, here it is. Y'all are pretty familiar with the underlying infrastructure if you've been through this thread. If not, check the earlier pages.

This time I decided to go sealed. It made life a ton easier and the box is pretty much dead on specs for these drivers. Speaking of, the drivers are the Elemental Designs E3.8 subwoofers which are an 8" driver. I'm running two of those sealed in the tub area under the rear seats in the double cab. Volume should come out to right about 1 cube.

I'm getting quite good at making these baffle boards too so swapping out subs is a snap. I think this one sealed extremely good too.

The sound is VERY tight an transient. The attack on these things is pretty darn awesome. The low FS on them makes them dig pretty deep with the cabin gain. I haven't tuned any yet with the Audison Bit.1 (not for these subs yet) but when I get some time I'll make a few tweaks. Overall I'm very happy with the way these turned out.

So did you end up glassing the entire bottom?

Yeah, the whole inside of the tub is glassed. It's been that way for a while. That way all the holes are sealed up and it's VERY rigid. Any time I want to change things up I just make myself a new baffle board for the top.

So why did you go away from ported? I have heard a version of the setup you have now and it sounded great, just want to know what probs you had with the port.

Damn man, I can't believe you dug that up. Sharp as a tack you are... [/yoda]

Ported is better in most applications IF you can hit the required specs in terms of enclosure design. A port must be a certain length and diameter. Both those measurements depend on box size and what frequency you want to tune the box to.

Problem I was having was squeezing enough port area and length into that tiny space under the seats. It's about 1 cube but those 6.5" subs needed two 4" ports. I compromised and used 3" ports because I had no choice. The ports needed to be 26" long and I only had enough space for 22" ports.

The box was not optimal. Had it been I think it would have performed much better.

Once again, very very nice. And once again, I am very very envious! lol

Are you still using the same amps/speakers/etc?

ok, this is quite possibly the best idea i have ever seen. im wondering if it would be possible to do the same thing to my access cab....i love your way of being able to change out the the subs with your top baffle.

I suppose it's possible. You'll have to do a lot of work either way. Attachment points had to be made for the front area and the rear ones I was able to use a few of the stock holes that I modified.

It's a rough road but the light at the end of the tunnel is quite bright :D

yes it would be alot of work, i just looked at it and our pocket seems way smaller so i don't believe it will work, im going to take the plastic out tomorrow to see if that will reveal some more room, but i doubt it,

I think there should be some more room under there. Mine had more under the pocket. Whether it yields the same amount I have no way of knowing.

this isnt really possible in your access cab. he has much more room under his double cab seats. to put a suitable woofer in that area under the access cab rear seats isnt really going to work. ive been weighing options for my new build for a while now. access cab is really hard to work with if you want to keep both rear seats.

Are you thinking about making/selling this setup to the public?

I've got 2 jbl gto804's that I need an enclosure for. This setup would be perfect but I only need .3 cu ft per speaker.

I don't think that the fiberglass bottom is removable...it's only the top section that he keeps re-doing.

    This is exactly correct.
I'd be more than happy to make the baffle board for you but I can't guarantee that it will fit because you'll have to cut the bin metal like I did. I'm sure it's possible to do but you're going to have to do some metal cutting and fiberglassing either way.

And those GTO 8's were a consideration of mine as well. They're happier ported which is possible but tricky given the space available.

I may just go with my original plan of a custom box behind the seat. I don't think I want to hack any metal just yet.

I found that out :( i really like how italyn did this and even gave hhim wuite a few options, i also wanted to know what the total cb feet he has after all is said and done...

yeah i know its tricky, i found a way to get my 12 in there, and it sounds decent, although the sub is about 4 years old and its seen better days...
