I ordered 8 4' pieces for the exterior and interior walls of the habitat, just waiting on some nut serts in the mail. Also doing 2 6' lengths on roof

Do the mounting pins require drilling?

I have no tracks on my habitat, only in the bed floor. The camper they were working on when I was there was having l-track laid on the interiors of the walls.

This is the stuff they use.

    IMG_0400.jpg

I do not know the dimensions, and this is my only pic. This is on top someone else's camper. I do remember it being slightly thicker than my track. So, if you afe running thinner track, that 1/8" might be fine!

I'd just give them a call if you want to know for sure.

Agreed, any idea how to use the mounting pins with the L-track?

Thanks, I actually just got the bolts in the mail today, and they seem like they will work just fine.

The only way I've seen it done is to run two tracks horizontally wider than the maxtrax, then make a vertical that bolts to the tracks that has the mounting pins bolted to it. Hunt around on IG, it's there.

I would just get some flat aluminum stock from a hardware store and run it in between your two parallel l tracks and mount the pins to those.

I keep going back and forth about mounting the maxtrax outside. For now, I took a few straps and have them strapped to the underside of a removable bed panel. Works well enough for me.

Has anyone's exterior hardware begun to rust. The balls that attach to the support rods have begun to patina and the screw on the button pieces on each side is rusting well. Also, there is some play on the socket ends of the support rods. Nothing has been a big deal yet, just asking. Also, the front lip that holds the removable panels flexes quite a bit. Anyone have similar experiences?

I've experienced no failures, just wondering if these are all normal. Not concerned with anything yet.

I guess they added that feature later. Mine didn't come with it.

I'll need to ask AT about it then, see if it's something I can install myself.

Haven't noticed any flex on the front lip, but I'll look out for it on mine.

I've found you can actually twist the support rod to reduce the amount of play. My interior bolts have actually begun to oxidize a bit as well. unnamed.jpg

I have one snap screw rusting, the other isn't. Maybe I got the last stainless one, and the first steel?!?

My sleep platform lip on the forward side also deflects under weight. I was thinking of adding rivits from the bottom to reenforce it.

Does your sleep platform sit proud of the forward decking, if so do you have a 5' or 6' bed?
