The max pressure on the side of the tire is the max for the tire. Sure you could put that much air in, but it's gonna ride like shit. Max on my tires is 80 psi - I run 38 because that's where it rides best and still gets decent fuel economy.

I went narrow for several reasons (255). One of those being that my 265s on offset wheels were grabbing the grooves in the road and making the truck wander. The issue was a combination of factors, just like your situation. There are several solutions - one being to get rid of the 285s, but I'd guess you don't want to dump your new $1K tires. The other is to get UCAs. That's about it.

I recently installed SPC UCAs myself and then had a special alignement shop set my caster to about 3.5+ and the rubbing issue is not as bad now, but even before the UCAs, I was running 35" Tires and never had those issues. Then again, when I took it to the alignment shop, the caster was already about 3.75

I have 80psi rate E tires on mine.
Run 40# in front and 50# in rear, so I can carry 3/4 ton of weight.
Replace upper control arms with aftermarket style. I could barely get mine in alignment specs with OE style. And it wandered all overt the road. After UCA and alignment to exact center of specs, it tracks and tracks good. Stiff due to the tires and #s in them. But hey its a truck !

Agree, we all know how to read and inflate tires, but its a different ball game when your talking about 33'' mud tires on a truck that was designed for 31'' street tires. 35 psi in 285's seems to be a happy balance amongst performance, tire wear, handling and gas mileage, I had the same tires as op and ran them at 35 for a few years no issues.

35 psi is the perfect balance ,,,I got 60,000 miles out of my 285 duratracks, running 35 psi
an you need to get that caster up ,uca's is the best way ,generally with no lift you should be able to get it in the low 2s

2.8 be best. you need to have an alignment shop set at 0 toe,0 camber,, an caster as high as they can get it, request this ,,if they say we will get it to spec,,go to a different shop
