While the scoop looks cool it serves no purpose. I have heard that before as well being a block in sight. I dont really like the wheels that come with the sport as well. I have a 2013 trd off road I ordered when I lived in Colorado just want to stick to the same thing. I used a lot of the O/R features in the mountains.

Well this will be my first tacoma and my first toyota. I'm kinda opposite you I liked the sport wheels a bit better, however I'm not a big fan of either. I might go aftermarket but I want to be fuel efficient too.

Truthfully a decent set of amped door speakers will provide cleaner sound and more bass than that small sub and the cost would be comparable or less. Yea it's not as easy as having a factory option but it depends what you're more interested in. The upgraded JBL will give you better sound than the stock system and a bit more bass but most decent aftermarket door speakers run more power through them than that entire system with sub. You would get the bass pinch from the doors and better high ends from the tweeters. For me my only complaint on my 2014 was the system wasn't loud enough at times with my windows down, but I use that space a lot so it's not worth losing it for a weak sub. Also bear in mind it's a lot more difficult to upgrade the JBL aftermarket than it is with stock. 2-3 months and an extra 700 just turned me off the JBL completely

Ditto. Need the space for all sorts of stuff other than bass.

A 45 or 90w sub will add minimal noticeable bass. I'm not sure if the door speakers are externally amped on the JBL but I'm willing to bet that if they are that's where some of the bass comes from. My single seat has all my straps and auto accessories stored behind it. Less frequently accessed items go under the seat and my biking or camping stuff is frequently behind the bigger seat. I'm sure the system is nice, but definitely has draw backs

I listened to my music on the 15 systems in the lot . One with the JBL and one without. The one with was clearly worth $700 more and that's what I ordered. I won't accept the HH system now. For $30K I want the best possible stock audio system.

No denying it's probably worth the upgrade for a stock system. I'll I've been saying is decent amped door speakers will get the same or better quality and not lose the space. Plus if you ever want to upgrade down the road it's harder having the JBL. Again to each their own. For me I would rather spend the 700 on exhaust and intake and upgrade some door speakers if I ever want better music. 4 door speakers and a decent small amp and crossover can easily be had for $500 or less

Yep, I have all my tie downs and stuff in those cubby holes. Losing the side with the sub would be a challenge. Not insurmountable, but it's good to know the trade offs.

For $500-600 you could replace all 4 door speakers and tweeters, add an external amp and seriously increase your sound quality. Or you could amp your stock speakers for about $350 and still have a decent improvement. The JBL won't give you crazy bass which renders the sub kinda pointless IMO. A good set of mid range drivers in the front doors would add the same or more bass, better sound quality and still leave the storage room behind the seats

Sound is subjective. I am not 25 anymore. I don't need audiophile sound in vehicle unless its an Audi S8. I certainly won't pay some yokels to start ripping door panels off and mess with the electronics to install "better" sound.

It's as loud as I would ever need and the bass is plenty for the music I listen to. I don't listen to 30hz bass Rap or Hip Hop. I certainly don't need door rattling bass or audiophile sound coming from Mp3s or compressed XM. The stock system is plenty musical enough for the money and especially for a truck. YMMV. Most of the classic Rock I listen to does not have the dynamics of today's music or go down to panel rattling 30hz.

Besides the warranty applies to the stock system.intact

What is the warranty on electronics? I do all my own installs on anything. But my stock system in my Tacoma has been plenty. My civic has ridiculous bass but it's a sports car. Likely I'll upgrade my next car to either factory top level or after market but the Tacoma has been good to me so far. If I'm using xm, hd radio or Bluetooth from my phone it is clean and plenty loud. Don't really need much bass for country music lol. If I could get t for 500 or so I might consider it. But the price and the extra wait is what turned me away from it. And I spent the extra 700 on the long bed anyhow lol. I'm sure you'll love it tho, but it's all personal preference at the end of the day. I've heard the JBL is better than the Bose systems

This 3rd gen is my first Tacoma and I come from many car platforms. I like it so far. JBL is pretty decent. Not bad ass, but better than many stock setups. I didn't want to worry with building a box etc with this vehicle. Plus there's not a ton of room. I can always upgrade down the line. Plus, it helps resale whether or not some agree.

Well heres my 2 cents, go with the JBL system if thats good enough for you, for most people it is. It sounded decent enough in my 2nd Gen 2011 DCSB 4X4 Sport, the stock JBL sub is a paper cone 6.5" woofer that did its job for what it was. I opted for no JBL and getting a custom set up for my '16 this week with the tint.

As for the hood scoop thing, I hated it in my sport because the glare off the sun would be blinding at times. Sure did look cool though , but it served no purpose.

I hope it sounds as good as the Infiniti system did in or old Kia. Harmon audio makes both.

I beg to differ that the jbl is walmart bs. I've got it in mine currently and love it. It gives a nice compliment to the rest of the sound. Not everybody needs to have the "aftermarket shit" and be heard 10 miles down the road. For $700 more, I'd like to leave it factory and have something extra to tack on the list of extras for the trade in or sale later on. Aftermarket stuff doesn't really give you extra on the trade in years down the road. You won't really be saving yourself money either once you go aftermarket. Figure in the speakers, wiring, connectors, time (even if you install it yourself, time is valuable), amp etc. You might have a louder sound, but that's about all. I personally enjoy mine and when compared to my brother's non jbl, can tell a nice difference. They both sound good, but I like mine.

    Sound quality>bass these days.
It looks like the new hood scoop doesnt sit at the same angle to give off that glare. I know what you mean, i hated that glare and always wanted to make mine functional. The new one is almost functional as it does actual have a vent, but it just dead ends in a box.

I will upgrade my stereo when I decide its on the list of things to do, I definitely like my music but I like having some sound to my truck first. I never realized how much I enjoyed my TRD exhaust until I took it off. Add in the Volant intake under full throttle and it sounded pretty mean
