That is good news. I torqued mine to 60 ft. lbs and also removed my shell. Hopefully that will work. I will do the red lock tite if they back off again. Thanks for your reply!

I don’t know about all Tacoma’s but mine has never had a cap and mine was rattling like mad over bumps. The bolts were not loose it’s the composite that wears out. A chunk of rubber between the bed and mounting point worked for me for about a year now.

Oh OK. Thanks for the info. Trying a bunch of different stuff. Will see what works. I will report my findings. OP thank you for posting this thread and to all how commented. I never know this was an issue.

OK so After reading this whole thread my question is. Is this caused by normal driving ( daily driving) or exsteam flexing of the bed like off roading. My bed bolts were loose but I had a shell. I removed the shell and torqued the bolts to 60 ft lbs. I ask because I find it hard to beleave that normal daily driving will couse this or am I just wishful thinking. I will do the wishers thing if I have to.

If you don’t have any movement in the mounts, leave it be. If you start hearing a thud from the rear over speed bumps, check them for play and fix as described in this thread. Can’t speak for anyone else, but mine wore over many miles of off road use.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking aswell. I feel that with out the weight of the shell it should help alot. I will check torque every couple of months to see how it's holding up. Thanks for your reply!

Did you do this for all the bed mount points?
How many points are there in total?

Only did passenger side forward mount. The other 5 mounts didn’t need it.

In good shape the bed bolt would hold down the bed but would be limited how far it could go by sleeve.

Now if we put a washer between the bed and the frame that allows the sleeve to slide down below the level of the bed (and into the washer) then my concern is that the bolt could now be tightened to the point that it actually cracks the bed. ??

Good work, but almost $7 ea. + McMaster's outrageous shipping charges could add up especially if you did all 6. Remember the rear two bolts are also a different size. Still, I've spend $$$ on my truck many times before without griping so.....

@Hyland33 Can you please describe if these are a hard plastic or more like a rubber bushing?

I went to the hardware store and got a sheet of rubber with a tapered hole in the middle for sealing a pipe that sticks out of a roof. About 1 square foot probably. Cut a square out with a half-assed hole cut in the middle, loosened the bed bolt, shoved the rubber in and tightened the bolt down. Hasn’t made a sound in a year and a half. If it wears through at some point I’ll just cut another piece and throw it in there.

I only did the one that was needed which was the front passenger side. They are a very hard rubber material.

I figure you could fashion a set of hard rubber washers out of a discarded tire that would out-live the truck.
