The compression ratio in the Tacoma 3.5 is about the same, Ford also just introduced a new 7.3 Pushrod V8 too.

Ford took a aluminum 5.0L block and instead of using tried and true cast iron cylinder liners they somehow machine weld each aluminum cylinder with a hard metal thin bead of metal then bore it out to about .025 thousandths, call it good. uh. No rigidity, warpage could be a huge factor using this method, as well as abnormal cylinder wear, its a horrible idea. Yet Race tested??? No thanks. I hope the new truck owners can get a class action lawsuit going against ford and get their money back on this Pile. Ford keeps giving lame excuses for why the engine is burning oil when they know full well what the problem really is. You can do research and see the mustang 5.0L cylinders with abnormal wear pics. This method should never have been released to public. Its been used for yrs for outboard motors, etc, but apparently is horrible for trucks.

Race engines don't have to last nearly as long as truck engines. That cylinder bore welding tech is a cost saving measure, and a step in the wrong direction for something like a truck motor, which people are counting on it lasting 10 years or more....

to be fair I think that may just be to whats going on these days, the 3 big Toyota dealers here used to have 40+ Tacoma's on the lot at any given time. With in the last few months you'd be lucky to find a dealer here with 3 Tacoma's on the lot, and they are gone the next day.

as of today, Brandon Ford which advertises itself as the world largest volume dealer has 40+ rangers

You're probably right. The Ford dealership is also close to where I saw the Rangers, and the buyers most likely wanted a Ranger for what ever reason.

Last week a saw at least 4 or 5 new Tacomas on a dealers lot, close to the road. There could have been more, or few used ones in the mix. I don't know what their total inventory was. I wonder if they sold any since then?

Haven't read through all 11 pages of this thread, but apparently the Ranger fits 33s without trimming :cookiemonster: :
