Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Update: Yesterday I went ahead and downloaded the cracked version of TechStream posted a few pages back, and the TSB-62 .cuw file as well. Got the update installed and went for a 30 mile drive with both highway and city driving. I'll say the TSB is a massive improvement over stock, and to be honest, probably would not have ever went looking for a tune if the truck came with this stock.

With that said, the TSB removed a lot of the peep that was given with the tune. Throttle response is more muted, and the truck is quick to shift from 1-4. Shifts are silky smooth and couldn't be much better. Highway driving is also greatly improved and the torque converter lock up / unlock is highly refined. Gas milages also appears to be significantly better than it was with 1.04, however a few tanks of fuel will be needed for accurate measurement of that. Another huge plus - The stumble on take off is gone. Under heavy acceleration from a stop, the truck would fall on it's face for a full second or more. This may not seem like much, but is a huge problem if your moving out into a busy intersection and trying to avoid traffic..

All in all? I'm not disappointed with the TSB and do not regret installing it. I do hope Mat can continue to refine the tune, and incorporate the fixes we see with the TSB as well. There is still work to be done but this is a huge step forward for everyone.

I have released the file last night, have not sent to everyone yet, remember dongle vs dongle-less is two different systems. I have not released dongle files yet. Before anyone gets angry please understand that were reaching close to 1000 trucks done now, day 1 of release you *may* not get your copy right away.

Also tune files won't be in the update folder that's not what it's meant for. I'm actually doing away with it since it's been confusing for everyone. I do a majority of the work and handle everything tacoma but I do have a team member which handles other things.

It's definitely not a copy paste scenario, Toyota changed many things, so the 04B04 version is different. The TSB was definitely a curve ball by Toyota, having spent a year investigating multiple issues with older tunes and finding ways to correct them only for Toyota to throw out an update that changes things far beyond what they have in the past. That being said 1.05 everyone will be getting updated to this new version Toyota released.

There will be some "growing pains" getting everyone onto this new version for 1.05, I expect that. But it will absolutely be worth the updated ecu. I know you guys can't see much behind the scenes but how Toyota updates their ecus are not like other manufactures. For example ford or mazda will make small updates as time goes on and released updated cars. Toyota on the other hand throws their stock tune in a damn blender, changing hundreds of things and updating huge segments of code, then posts massive voluntary recalls. This makes tune updating a harder to accomplish quickly.

Anyways I have the files done, have to send more out.

Finally, none of this changes 1.05. It's still scheduled for end of the month. I understand everyone is eager to get tunes back on their trucks.

 

Release it when it's ready. Don't worry about the few impatient people.

 

Does this mean you are sending an Email with the new 04B04 tune files to everyone who bought and paid for a tune ?

 

For people with 04BO4 ecu version yes, if you don't have 04B04 you won't get an email.

 

matt how do you know who has 04B04? I updated mine to the new TSB yesterday but didn't notify anyone. Do i need to send you an email to your support email?

 

That's the one hard part with updates. I have many emails but I'm sure not everyone.

If you have a DONGLE and 04B04, please wait for FM update.

It will be great to get the underlying improvements to throttle/code etc, as Toyota has not seen fit to update us M/T guys at all.

think that means you have not had either of the last two TSB's flashed by Toyota - just wait for 1.05 from Mat - it will have all the latest Toyota TSB's incorporated into it along with his refinements. I have the same.

 

So my GF did me a favor and filled the tank. With 87. I'm running the 91+ tune. Where can I download the 1.04 87? Or do I have to email Mat and ask for it?

Ok I know I had it flashed a few months after I got the truck(November before last)
I guess this is why I haven’t received any tune files yet? I’d hate the email mat again seeing how swamped he is
I’m just dying to drive the truck on anything but this stock tune
I may have sent him more emails than any other member on here :|

If you check the first page of this thread Mat has listed the current Tune (s) and those that are outdated. You will have to contact Mat for the new tune when it is released using their new contact info (again listed on the first page of this thread). I am running 1.04 and going to update to 1.05 when it comes out. You may be running 1.03 - check and always keep your correspondence from Mat, and use it in any new correspondence with him.

 

@fatboyfirebass - my PC crashed a few weeks ago and I lost everything on it.

 

That's definitely a "contact Matt scenario". The files are liked to your PC and unique to each user.
