Those of you on 04B04 ECU firmware with 1.04R tune want to chime in and provide feedback?

I had the dreaded clunk coming to a stop with 04B03 ECU 1.04 91 octane, so I reverted back to 1.03. Anyone who had the clunk on 1.04 "upgraded" to 1.04R?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but us 04B10 guys will always be 04B10 even if we flashed 1.04? Or will 1.05 change us all to the latest??

I didn't have the clunk but I do have B04 on the truck right now and the 1.04R in hand, just working too much for the next couple of days to mess w/ the flash. The B04 isn't terrible but I can already feel the trans learning starting to kick in today so I am interested to try out 1.04R. Surely someone on here has loaded it and can provide some early feedback??

I hope it does preserve the use of 5th gear. The shifting is far from perfect with B04 but one thing they've done a really good job of is leveraging 5th gear in what I assume is half lock to climb hills. Not just slight grades either. you couldn't climb hardly anything stock without dropping to 4th or 3rd. especially when traveling at slower speed on steeper inclines. I kid you not I was climbing a very steep hill holding speed and even slightly accelerating around 35-45mph in 5th.

Wait, aren’t you part of the dongle crew? How did you already get 1.04R?

Correct, 04B10 up to and including 1.04.

I suspect we'll still be 04B10 on 1.05, as Toyota has not released an ECM update for us (or any M/T calibration for that matter).

Just wondering for those that have flashed your truck to 04B0400 yourself how will you explain it if your dealer ever plugs into your truck and finds B0400 with no record of the update in the system?

Anyone can subscribe to Techstream and get the OEM update and flash it so I can’t imagine there’s an issue. I actually updated this history on my Toyota owners account to note I did the update

how is everyone updating to B04? I'm out of warranty and dealer doesn't want to cover it. Also doesn't OV rewrite everything anyways?

I believe I am currently on B02 and I've been looking at the getting the OV tune. I hate how this car feels and it never in the right gear

If you wait for 1.05, it will be included in the tune.

    1. You need a Tactrix and cable (which you can either purchase from Tactrix or it came with most of the tune kits from OVTune)
    2. You need to install Techstream. Any version will work, some searching will find you a version many have used on here with success.
    3. Download the CUW files (can find them by searching on the forum for your specific truck).
    4. Connect Tactrix and cable to truck/windows laptop (which should have Techstream installed and have the CUW file for the new ECU version).
    5. Run the CUW file (it is an executable install package, but you have to have Techstream installed in order to open the file though it doesn't have to actually be open when you run the file)

From there just follow the onscreen prompts while you have everything connected + truck ignition to ON (just like flashing a tune to the truck).

The process is wicked simple to update yourself if you have the hardware and software needed which any tune owner does at this point...

Anybody know if the TSB update will work on all calibration IDs prior to 04B04? Such as 04B02?

I would think it would be covered if it was brought up before your warranty expired?
