Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

This has no comparison to the Lexus 3.5liter V6 in these trucks. Your gains are minimal at best

 

For those folks that went from 1.04/87 to 1.04/91, what performance difference did you experience? I’m sure someone posted results somewhere in here...call me lazy...

 

A very noticable difference. As some say my “Butt Dyonometer” felt the difference

 

There’s more power in Atkinson mode, so the changeover point at 3500 rpm isn’t as noticeable or abrupt.

 

if you look on the first post, it shows some dyno runs with the initial tune on 91. Should give you a baseline.

 

3500rpm isn't where atkinson changes to otto. It isn't a fixed rpm

Do we need to start a OV TT thread? When I bought my truck a TT wasnt even a thought but Mat just got me pumped the fuck up! I just want to talk turbos now while I wait for 1.05

Damn that's a good idea even if it was unintentional. Think the next time my truck goes in I'm setting my dash cam to not show a display or led.

 

Not required. Only need if you want a map with ‘extra’ boost

 

You should really go show the camera footage to the general manager of the dealership, or at least to the service department manager. I caught a grumpy old mechanic smacking the mirror on my Tacoma at a dealership on my dash cam and debated going to the Douchebag that did it, but went straight to the GM instead. He was not impressed.

It’s those disgruntled mechanics who are making the updates so hard to get. All they need to do is say the problems are verified and flash and send it out the door. How much easier can it get?

 

Atkinson cycle depends more on load then rpm.

 

I'm not connected to the biz, so can someone please educate me on why techs feel this way? I just want to understand how this is negatively impacting his day.

 

Tech get paid by the job, and this TSB update job only pay 0.4 hour for test drive, update, test drive again, and paperwork. Alot of work (running around) for the tech for not a lot of cheese. If I read Taco16LB post correctly.

 

That's it in a nutshell. They like the jobs that spec out for 6hrs and it takes them 2-3 with all the shortcuts they've learned. But they still charge for 6..

 

Will the TT make use of the hood scoop?? Lol

I understand that. It just so happens that all the 0s and 1s line up to make it happen around 3500 rpm. It’s a well documented number on the forums.

 

It's just as bad in the health care industry...

 

Would a TT require a separate tune?
