Yeah I would of quoted him but I'm not sure how many pages back it was. I'm really excited about getting this while I'm still stationed on shore duty so I've been checking up on the post a couple times a day. Get some good miles in before I get deployed again!

When I have a moment of free time I will explain to you guys in detail exactly what Toyota did on this latest tsb.
Regarding Toyota creating a TSBs vs me. Remember Toyota has the cheat sheet. They know every single byte of data and what it does.

That being said they literally just took one of the primary low speed torque tables for the transmission and softened it everywhere you're not at high load (full throttle).

I could of done this yes.

The way the ecu / tcu works is it controls how the torque converter works.
Soften the torque maps and the converter is always full slip. Tighten the maps with more request torque the converter half locks.
The go further it full locks.

They lowered intake vvt ( less cyl fill ) softened the transmission, changed shift points and worked the throttle by speed and gear tables.

I'm sure the update feels great. The truck does drive super smooth when everything is set soft. When I tested the softer you go the sloppier the transmission is when cold. Too soft and it actually lags shifts.
When locked shifts are snappy, lock, unlock shift, relock.

But it also drives damn amazing when full locked in 3rd or higher gears. (on accel, not decel), which you guys haven't seen yet. This only partially exists in 1.04.

The thing with this tsb is I expect you'll have less available peak torque in low rpm in 5th or 6th(under 2000 rpm) because they took out a chunk of valve advance. Although I'm only speculating. Don't run to Toyota with that or theyd likely sue me into oblivion.

Nobody has experienced full lock 5th or 6th gear that actually allows 100 percent throttle opening without a shift.

Just wait for 1.05 before making your mind up on this tsb.

Now I have a question for anyone with the updated tsb.
Has anyone tested 4x4 4-lo with it. That torque model is used at low speed and I want to investigate it's effects on 4-lo.

For everyone awaiting an update on their tickets. Sorry currently tow testing, only have my phone. Will get back to you all soon.

Yes ive used once But not for long. It felt a little less jerky than before but not too much of a ndoticable difference because of the 4 lo gearing it felt snappy anyway. Is it possible to disable learning and up the shift points slighty on the new tsb. If that is the only change you do i think you would have a goldmine matt. The drivability of the new tsb is amazing except for shifting too quick on lower gears.

Yes I can do that. Although I'm sure people running 91 or 93 will want the benefits of ignition, vvt, fuel changes and such for the additional power

Preliminary feedback on the M/T side of things is very positive also. I can vouch for the fact that 04B13 runs quite well over previous stock tunes (certainly 04B10), although mid range torque is down over 1.04A 91 IMO. Toyota greatly improved throttle response among other things. Smoooth easy driving machine.

I wonder if the brief knock I had on 1.04A 91 was partially due to underlying crap 04B10 code.. because 04B13 doesn't do it at all (yes I know the ignition advance won't be the same on OEM tune).

I’ll update mine just to see what it does to my truck. Since you are happy, I should be fine running it until 1.05 is released

For those with updated TSB and 1.04R...are you just flashing ECU or ECU and TCU?

Probably doesn't need to be said, but I'll take torque over HP any day. :burnrubber::burnrubber:

Lets start asking the real questions here. How will these twin turbos hold up against Magnusons superpooper?

I second this. I hate the new shift points for the new tsb. I've noticed they are better with the 91 tune though.

So after a few miles, I’m not even sure what to say. It seems Toyota got finally got their act together with the factory tuning because it is night and day different from the steaming pile of garbage they shipped with the truck.

I’ll echo what others have said that it is definitely smooth and any of the weirdness is gone thus far. I have noticed that it doesn’t feel as powerful down low compared to 1.04A.

I’ll definitely still be flashing 1.05 once it is available because once you combine this with the OVT magic, this truck is going to be amazing.

Good to hear. I have not done the TSB and am on 1.04 91 tune.
I am VERY eager to see what 1.05 brings with the TSB. Just a few more weeks I hope.
