You guys are trying to go all technical on it... I'm saying the ID you keep referring to is a name!

Stop taking it to the dealer if you're worried they'll update it. If they update it once the turbos are on you'll be in a world of pain pretty quickly.

$5-6k for twins sounds low to me. That's budget supercharger coin in my book. High-end twins is more like $10k+. Suppose it's platform dependent though.

They will when they first start the truck after overwriting the turbo tune at the dealer

It sounds about right, a regular supercharger for a Tacoma (2ng gen since there isn't any for 3rd) is about 6k from Magnuson. The entry level turbos from mat are just going to bolt on with no internals modified since it will be low boost, probably around 4-5lbs. The higher up kits that include engine internals will probably be 8k+

Twins are generally more expensive than superchargers. More stuff going into what is usually a tighter spot. However, turbo upgrades are normally much cheaper. As in putting bigger turbos on an already turbo'd car. That of course is not the case for the 2GR though. By all means I hope the twins from OV Tune are $6k or better yet $5k. Would be a good deal in my opinion.

Na, it's cool...by the time something is actually available, those who have saved up enough to get it will be out of warranty anyway so no dealer trips anyway lol. Those who are still under warranty will still be saving up for it so again, they will be out of warranty anyway by the time they are ready to purchase.

Cue the "Circle of F/I Wannabe Taco Ownership Life" song

Mat, what's your take on an anti-lag turbo setup?

I ask because the ranger raptor is happening in America and it's supposed to have a 335hp twin turbo v6

my guess is that they couldn't overwrite a TT tune if they tried cause the TT tune wouldn't be in their "list" of ECUs available to get the update. Like trying to write a Tacoma tune over an Tundra ECU

I sure hope people who are interested in turboing or S/Cing their trucks aren't going to be relying on dealer oil changes and dealer updates.

Prepare for all sorts of fun stuff.

"Why is there a lag when I step on the gas before the turbos kick in?"
"Why do I make no boost all of a sudden? I swear I tightened those clamps down."
"WTF? I was getting 25mpg on 1.04 before the turbos."
"What brand of turbo timer do you recommend?"
"When is the turbo 87 tune coming out?"
"Why can't I beat my friends Supra? It only has one turbo in it!"

Lol turbo timers are a pet peeve of mine. I know that floods of people will buy them and ask about them (I hate when people buy shit and THEN ask for opinions on it) but it's always bugged me that people can't comprehend that this is 2018. Unless you're flooring it and then immediately shutting down your engine, like while you're still rolling and at WOT, you don't need a turbo timer. And if you ARE doing that, you need your truck confiscated Lmfao people in the mazdaspeed community could never seem to grasp the idea that by the time you slow down and enter a parking lot or wherever else, your turbo has already cooled enough to shut down your vehicle once you park.
