Ford's thinking that they're going to show people a turbo 4 is going to kick V6 Tacos and Colorados to the curb and take names. They took a risk 8 years ago offering 6's as the mainstream engine in F150's and now 75% are not only sold as 6's, the top engine is a six. They're fully bought into their downsized turbo engines. And let's face it, the 6 in the Taco isn't anything to brag about and it's NVH is from the 80's. We'll get to see if Ford hits the mark with the 4 in half a year when the reviews are out.

We'll see if they hit the mark by how many people buy them. As we all know on Tacoma world, reviews don't mean anything since the major reviewers are really biased

    Meh...

Many have tried to herd the cats in here. Good luck with that.

Fun cops pop up once in a while, then regular posters play whack-a-mole.

I did the math, if I put away most of my paychecks each week, I can afford the "stage 3" kit in about 2 years

My 2016 TRD OR is running 1.04 87 and my ID is 0403. Will 1.05 flash without issues? I am still using the single software (not dongleless)? The ID on my truck was the most recent until Toyota released the new one everyone is talking about. I think that number on the new ID is high because it correlates to the 2018 trucks. Am I wrong?

You wont have a problem. Although Mat is going to release 1.05 for the dongle guys after the dongleless. I'm just speculating but maybe he's going to convert you guys over? Again, just speculation. 1.05 will change your ID to 0B04 which is the most recent update ID from Toyota.

I don't believe that last bit is true. From what I understand, it'll give you all of the changes that came with the updated version from Toyota, but your ID will not change if you stay with your current ECU and update via 1.05. Your ID will change if you do the toyota update and then flash 1.05

If it happens, it happens. Personally I'd prefer to stick with the dongle, as you don't run into problems if you want/need to use a different computer for flashing. Also, Mat only needs to release the tune via FM or a link on here.. then everyone has access at the same time. Super easy and convenient for the customer.

So there will be gains for 91&93 tune, but what about for those on 87 octane? Apart from the tab update.

He stated awhile back there wouldn't be a 1.05 87 power tune. The power would be 91 & 93 tunes. The 87 would be better i'm sure than the 1.04, just not power better. Fuel efficient.

Won’t be more power, but more power in useful places aka down low not up high
