I drove 04b04 for about 40 miles then flashed 1.04R91. You can always flash back to B04 if you dont like it but I think you will since it has all those things you mentioned :)

I ran 04B04 (thanks to @riz_atx) for about 3 weeks. I just flashed to 1.04r 91 yesterday and I can already feel the difference. I hear the shifts but don't feel them at all anymore, unless I'm heavy on the gas.

Right on! I was gonna ask you and all the others folks how that B04 tune was treating ya other than the misfires. Feels like misfires are an issue across the board.

I stopped seeing the misfires after the first few days on the 04B04, but I don't put too many miles on my truck. It felt ok, but I liked 1.04 better than the tsb.

Yeah, my truck is one of the beloved who seem to have a hard time with low-speed ignition stability. But it's better with B04 than it has been previously. I used to get about 10-15 misfires on a city commute (17 miles one way, lots of stop and go, bit of highway) after a cold start on either stock or OVtune. Then subsequent trips if the engine was already warm would be <10 misfires but they'd still happen.

On the latest TSB it still misfires but far less. Probably 3-5 most mornings based on my logs, then it often doesn't at all in subsequent trips and if it does it's rarely more than 1-2 in a trip which is pretty normal.

Pretty much always happens under low load when either accelerating from a near stop or decelerating - and engine generally below 2,000. Never ever misfires on the highway or under much load though.

So, part of me is curious whether the timing advance on 1.04r will introduce more misfires or not but is also one reason I've been holding out for 1.05 b/c I know misfires and detonation are issues he's looking into for this next release.

IS this file worth updating if one HAS NOT gotten then TSB or should I just wait for 1.05?

If you haven't had the TSB applied to your truck, you shouldn't apply 1.04R. It's ONLY for people who have the TSB.

If you haven't gotten the TSB you must wait for v1.05, unless you get the TSB first and then install v1.04r.

It’s not that you shouldn’t, it’s that it won’t let you. Dealt with this yesterday, solution was to install TIS flash latest tsb, only then could I flash 1.04r

I too have had the stumble below 1500rpm on both the stock tune and the 87 1.04 tune. On some days it is very bad. The whole truck shakes. I have found that the 91 1.04 almost elimates it as does running 91 octane on the stock tune.

Yeah, this is different than that but I know what you're referring to and I had the same experience where it kind of stumbles or feels like a slight miss - in most cases the data showed this was not actually a misfire. This is often undetectable to the driver, unless it's 2 or more cylinders misfiring at once in which case there is a slight stumble feeling

What you describe though is why I switched to 93 (VPower

Yeah 91 octane seems to help quite a bit. I do not think this engine is designed well for 87 octane. 11.8:1 is high compression! Too high for 87 octane despite the direct injection.

Stock tune had very slight stumbling below 1600rpm on 87.
1.04 91 had terrible stumbling below 1600 rpms on 93octane fuel.
TSB has no stumbling below 1600.

    Weird.

Flashed 1.04r, much better, though there are slight jitters at low speed/partial throttle, it is leas prominent. I also like the behavior of transmission with 1.04r, I hated 1.04 where it would lug the motor. Much better now.
Now the wait for 1.05 continues

So, we've come to the conclusion that every single truck is completely different in how it acts regardless of stock/tune/tsb/tuneR and fuel type lol

I'd say it's more likely we've come to the conclusion that every DRIVER'S PERCEPTION is completely different regardless of stock/tune/tsb/tuneR and fuel type.

Wohooo. I'm rolling on 04A61, so am in the list. But I'm still on the non TSB of 1.04 so assume I'm not going to gain too much by doing this. But... I'm optimistic that 04A61 will be in the 1.05 initial release now.

Damn... is this just how it's gonna be for as long as we own these trucks or will there one day finally be a solution to these problems and all will be right in Tacoland ?
(Oh how I wish I had bought another Gen 2 :frusty: This blows)
