If I'm not mistaken, the new flash manager will come preloaded with the 1.05 variants. You just enter your ECU identification number to gain access.

Okay, so some things we have recently learned the conversion factors on this ECU for and more importantly how it controls throttle air flow.

This is getting updated in 1.05 Release,
The ECU seems to be using 25 different Throttle Angle / Airflow calculations, and 25 Inverse calculations for these angles.
These are 4D control tables which uses the torque control tables (4D) that uses a correction (10/-10, from expected throttle airflow or angle)

These tables help us understand now how the ECU controls and dictates throttle further to control airflow (and ultimately resulting power).
Tuning one set of tables (for example torque 4D) creates better response to immediate throttle however ultimately results in less over-all throttle, due to the Throttle / inverse throttle tables.

What we are working on for 1.05 Release:

These tables will remain 4D to support the OEM logic of the ECU, But we will be modifying these Torque and throttle limits in the ECU to allow for a wider range of available requested throttle. (as we explained before in the "power" option).
We are also retuning the limits on the throttle / inverse throttle tables.

The ECU has a main torque "limit" for these tables @ 0.97, and uses the torque 4D as a reference. You can see below how it is modified on a single piece of the 4D control table.

All of this is being adjusted for better immediate and transient response on 1.05, and raising the limits, while also condensing the 4D controls to remove so many of the redundancies.

attached is an image of just how many different throttle controls I'm talking about and how this creates such an inconsistent feel for the truck

Does this mean we would never be able to get 100% of the available torque using the factory calibration? Im sure they had their reasons but i paid for 100% haha

Will you be doing a dyno run with 1.05 to get some updated HP and torque numbers ?

If I just purchased a 2018 last week, will it have the TSB already applied? Or will I have to go back in and get it done? You would think that the dealerships/Toyota would send out all new cars with the latest software updated, but that is probably asking too much.

Also, will I need the TSB prior to purchasing the OVTune? Thanks.

It does too much to maintain the speed including downshifting into 4th or even 3rd on the highways. With my foot, i can maintain the speed and it will be in 5th or 6th. Same hill, same speed on CC, itll for sure go to 4th. Feels like it can only be at full or no throttle.

This is an off the wall question. Matt is there anyway you can chance the engagement parameters on the diff locker? A software version of the gray wire mode from the older 4runner and Tacoma. I know it’s not ECU or tune related, but with the access you have I figured you’d be the man to ask.

Thanks for this, Matt, but it would sure be nice to have some axes and units defined on these tables. It would go a long way toward understanding what you are doing for us. I'm just sayin'...........

There was some discussion of this many pages ago. Also it was requested to be able to do a low range 2 WD only.
Both of which would be beneficial to some ....... along with things like speed-o calibration for larger tire ..... and more.

I don't recall if Mat has said how much he can do in this regard.

Anyhow ..... I hope this stuff will wait until after 1.05 is released.

Certainly not suggesting this take priority over current projects, just an inquiry. I’ll search and see if I can find where it was brought up before.
