You're right but it's been posted so many times in this thread I didn't think it needed repeating.

I think 1.04R will keep people at bay for a while. I’ve logged over 1000 miles on it so far

This is great and really looking forward to 1.05. we have other cars in the family with similar power and weight and the Taco always feels significantly more lethargic.

Also answers the question of driving up rises in the road at 62mph and 2000rpm in 5th and using much more throttle yield no increased ability to maintain speed.

I think what will surprise you even more is that when you do this, 5th gear, 2000 rpm.. When you're pushing the accelerator down the throttle isn't opening more, it's waiting for the accelerator to reach the torque request threshold to downshift.

the waiting thing has been pretty clear and miserable from the start. that you now can get control of that changes every damn thing. so great.

That's why the throttle is so stupid, my old 05 Suzuki has a wire throttle, instant get up and go. This truck, get up and go in about 5 minutes

How about a 1:1 ratio for skinny pedal to throttle plate? 10% pedal input equals 10% throttle plate opening...

This won’t do any good on a gutless motor downlow, you’ll just be lugging it for no reason

Because it can’t give you the response you’re wanting due to lack of torque on a high revving/strung motor, at least not in low rpm range, my logic may be flawed, but that’s what I think

Well with mat now able to change around torque demands (I think that's what he said he can do now?) He can put more torque down low. And I think people want a throttle by wire feel. There's nothing like a throttle by wire feel

I just flashed 1.04r and with my 265/70R17 Cooper ST MAXX’s I feel that 1.04r shifts WAY too early. So after reading your experience I’m assuming it has to do with the larger much heavier tires.

I understand this, on my previous drive by wire car, most people wanted the same out of the tuner, 1:1 throttle response, in practice it didn’t work well, it gave a bucking bronco sensation. I’m not a tuner, just thinking outloud

That's exactly what it feels like. More throttle, more throttle and no noticeable change in exhaust note and no change in instant MPGs, then all of a sudden there's downshift, but based on the throttle position I get more power than I wanted. Where if it had downshifted sooner there would've been a smoother transition.

Based on the snippets of what you've been posting, it sounds like the nature of the ecu is very declarative. i.e. the base algorithm can't be changed but the inputs into it can. It's quite an interesting set of constraints. I applaud you for unravelling it.
