So to exchange my never used kit to a hand held is an additional $240?

I bought the dongle-Less package (I already have a Tactrix cable) but haven't registered anything yet. I understand that when I register the software it gets tied to my laptop. Can I move that to another laptop in the future? If not can I get a dongle? Assuming the dongle is the license and I can move it to another laptop if I get something else in the future.

Is there a pros/cons comparison between dongle vs dongle-less?

Now with the handheld option there should be a feature matrix to make it more clear what you can and can't do with all of the iterations.

1.05 Update is free for anyone who has ANY VERSION of our Tune kit. (Dongle, Dongleless, handheld).

We will be able to swap out kits for handhelds ONLY if you have NEVER registered your software.

I'll make a new post to clear this all up.

Wow, what a flood of questions. Relax people, it will get sorted. Don't flood Matt with silly HP gain questions or the like. He WILL post that info when it gets ready for release.

another cool update / feature for dongle-less users.
We will have a software update for people, for anyone who has an older toyota (or 4Runner, 4.0 tacoma, etc) where you can license those vehicles (ability to tune the ecu) no extra charge. (tune itself is separate, but no additional software cost)

Will updates continue to be free or will it all be all custom after this? Any plans for a 1.06 or have you worked out the majority of the kinks?

Confused here.. Why does the handheld not support custom tune? I thought OVtune is a custom tune.... just thrown off by these words used here by experienced OVtune customers as I research whats the best method, which ti buy etc....

Everything will be cleared up in one big update to the first post tonight.
    Handheld is totally optional
all previous milestones remain ( custom tuning, logging, 1.05)
any and all versions of our tune kit will have access to 1.05 update for no extra charge.

our current tune is a customized dyno developed map from our R&D truck.
Custom tuning (changing extra parameters) are for people who want their tune to perform differently. For example they may want the truck to shift faster in 3rd gear, or may want the throttle less/more responsive. This is the customized part.

The handheld does not have the ability to log and record live data like software can, this is why CUSTOMIZED tuning on the handheld isn't an option.

Thanks for your hard work. Loving 1.04R 87 file on 91 gas. Going to flash the 91 file and see how she does.

Thanks so looks like Handheld is the easiest method to flash. I take it the 1.05 update is on the handheld and for future updates, we just download or put update files/folders on the handheld and flash the truck. I take it handheld comes with storage built in or SD card on it?

    Correct, that's how it works.
The handheld will read your stock ECU data and then you select our tune files on the handheld that you'd like to run.
In the future, if you want to download an update, you run our software > save your current data and email it to us. We create an updated save package file
you use our handheld software and load the save package file to the handheld.
your tunes are now updated and you flash it to the truck

Mat, is there a discounted handheld "upgrade" path for us dongleless users, or would we be stuck paying full price if we want to ditch our laptops?

So 1.05 won't be released until end of October now?

That is great news. No real need to buy an already programmed ecu with a handheld correct? Can always go back to stock with the unit at anytime?
