VW does this already. Doesn't seem to be issues there.

is there still hang programmed in? mine doesn't hang like the stock tune did now that I'm on 1.01b. any hang i have now feels like the flywheel only, but I'm not really revving much above 4k if that changes things.

    lol at #2.

3 is a catch 22. Technically you haven't messed with the odo reading yet... just got new tires...no way you get in trouble for that. But that effects odo readings so have to mess with odo calculations to correct it but that itself is what's actually illegal.

Yeah I don't want to get into the legality, as I am not an attorney.
And why LOL @ #2? Is having the correct information readout on the cluster too much to ask?

no just funny coming from someone who's clearly a big modder. i meant no offense. i get it, i'm the same way and also mod a lot. it's just kind of ironic. the heavy modder says he wants it to function like stock.

Seems cheap to have the ability to update the tune as needed without having to borrow a computer from somebody.

I'd like to jump on board, but I have reservations regarding impact of the tune will have on components. I only recently gained an interest in trucks, mods, etc, so pardon my ignorance, but would this tune negatively impact the vehicles life cycle? Even so, it might still be worth it to me, but I'd like to know more about the cons before pulling the trigger.

Doubt he can speak to this, honestly - liability and all, this is a do at your own risk kind of thing when you custom tune.

Seems to be a responsible tune, understanding most of these trucks are daily drivers and not race cars. But it's always a chance. My $.02 is that this couldn't be any riskier than how these rolled out with the stock tunes that bog the engine and delay downshift (resulting in the jerk into 4th when you need to accelerate). Hard for me to think Matt's tune would do anything other than help the reliability of the truck...

    To update:

    1. 87 tune 100% happening.
    2. Speedo Calibration. ( unconfirmed, no ETA )
    3. S Mode gear lock, Auto-upshift disable. Possible, Doable, optional, yes.
    4. Truck should perfect like a "better version" of a stock truck
    5. final piece of logger is getting put together (which is diagnostics protocol for VIN and ECU ID verification)

I'd say you're more likely to have reliability issues staying on one of toyotas OEM older calibration files than our calibration.

It is something to consider that Toyota has already had to update their own tune 4 times for the automatic and 3 times for the Manual to make the truck operate as intended.

i think you have a little misunderstanding here. if you were local you could check out my truck. it runs normal now, unlike stock which had all kinds of "muting" in the tune. now it runs just like a normal v6. no crazy power, weird stresses, high rpm, or any of that, just smooth and normal. it's not even turned up yet, and that's gonna be an optional thing anyway... he's even coming with a 87 tune. this is not about crazy performance. it runs so smooth now I'm thinking it may even be less stress on the hardware, but certainly not more. this is no turbo tune of that's what you're thinking.

I think I did slightly misunderstand what this tune did. You've put my mind at ease. :)

Order placed. Thanks for the quick responses guys.

Does the tune to stay loaded even if the battery is disconnected?

And if dealer does an update at lets say a services visit does that wipe the tune as well?

Some of this was touched on but I wanted to clarify.

The only way to remove the tune is to reflash the ecu

Tune stays loaded if the battery is D/C

If dealer updates, Tune is lost. We have a simple procedure for getting it retuned.
    Download the dealer update >
Email the dealer update file to us >
we will update your ECU with the new calibration.

What would be cool if there was a way to switch maps without a laptop. In my previous cars, I had multiple tunes and could switch between them on the fly (87, 91, 91 hi boost, C16 race gas, etc)

OV TUNE, anyway to do this?

Will this have any effect on the traction control? It seems my 4x4 OR struggles to throw dirt and it won't even attempt to do a burnout on pavement. I realize this isn't the best vehicle for burnouts but its always fun to fling mud on a back riad and thats difficult to do.
