Hopefully I can just exchange what I got for the Handheld. Don't plan on logging. I'm an old man, my computer skills are crap.

I consider myself moderately tech savvy, but I'm still nervous as hell to flash my truck on my own. I imagine it'll take a flash or two before I stop worrying so much. Everyone here say's it's super easy, but still... I'm not known for my good luck, haha

being that you just ordered yours, have you sent the serial ID of your computer in yet? I would get on that so once Mat gets back to you you can read your ECU id

I could be wrong, but that sounds exactly like the stutters I would get on 1.03b/c. Part load, and in my case 2300 to approx 2700 RPM, truck would stutter. The good news is Mat was able to see the problem in my logs and kill it. You should know that not all trucks will do this, even with identical ECU versions and tune files.

Oh, and my truck has stuttered to some degree on every calibration file except 04B13 and 1.04A 91. Did it from the factory at about 1500 RPM under part load.

The way Mat describes the HandHeld is the way I want to go. Connect to the OBD and set the tune. Also easily having a dedicated unit to change Octane levels while your on the road is great. I have a 3 year old. I can protect a hand held. Having a lap top in the truck on road trips is another story. He'll find it, start watching cartoons and the rest is history.

Yep, I absolutely want to be able to change the tune on the road if I need to, so if I end up going computer instead of hand held it'll be dedicated for truck duty/road trips, reading material and maybe movies if I'm camping.

Luckily my only kid has 4 feet and fur. I'd probably have a heart attack if I ever found her using a computer

My dongle has risen to the occasion. Just need that new hotness to help release all the power and tension. Anticipation and expectations are very high for this one.

I’m technologically handicapped and old too. Once you get it done the first time you’ll see how easy it really is and your truck will love it..You’ll be fine. There are a lot of good guys here that will help you and Mat is great too.

I don't think I've ever been so nervous to buy something in my life.

This is sounding suspiciously like what my FJ did. Around 60k miles it started shuddering under light load. Didn’t matter what gear. It mattered rpm and load. Turns out it was the torque converter. Tolerances too tight or something. Known issue now and was fixed under warranty for some. Not me. My subconcious mind just learned to either give it a little more gas or a little less gas. 120k miles later and it still did it (about 90% as strong by my guess). It was so bad you’d think one of the tires had an inch or two of of thread showing on the lugnuts. I think the issue was that the torque converter didn’t know whether to lock or not and it oscillated between the two.

Yep. If Matt can make franks truck happy, he can make anything work. Feel free to take a trip in the way back machine if you don’t believe me, @MOC221_ was top of the leaderboard of most unhappy people for a while. All the MT guys that have been around for a year or so remember it like it was yesterday and like to remind him :)

1.05 is free but if I wanted a custom assuming it costs $$. Process would be log your drives and submit to Matt and he would tweak the tune to your needs ‍♂️

No, custom tuning is also "free". Included with general tune purchase

You should reread mats posts. He has never said custom tunes would cost anything additional.

Matt are you still thinking about throwing in some Un-Holey Dash Mount’s with a Ram Ball as a thank you gift with the Handhelds?
