I like the idea of leaving that handheld in the truck without worrying about batteries and being able to switch to 87 if i had to. I can get rid of that bottle of octane booster now.

What are the benefits and negatives of the handheld?

Shoot I bought an acer laptop just for the ovtune. I don’t mind upgrading to the handheld if there is a ‘need’

To me, the benefits of a handheld would be compact form factor and ease of use.

The benefits of a laptop would be the added ability to use it for TechStream if necessary. I personally run a 5 tire rotation, so I have to go in to TS and (re)program the 4 active TPMS IDs every time I rotate. You can do other things like disable seatbelt chimes and change the lane change blinker pattern.

Just got home from work and Handhelds sold out! I want to keep my Dongle and get the Handheld for convenience. Are there going to be more Handhelds released?

93 octane was a factor, and exhaust.
This engines exhaust is a big bottleneck. Not very surprising. Like almost any modern engine the intake size is engineered extremely well and rarely ever a bottleneck, this is to achieve as precise airflow measurements as possible.
Then they stick tiny exhaust and a bunch of dense cats on the exhaust side to help beat emissions.

I'll have to double check the info I've gathered over the years but if I recall correctly the tiny exhausts on new cars help with cold start emissions.

So far the only car I've seen with a purpose built intake restriction is Lexus cars ( lc500, RCF) where flow is restricted until 5500rpm when a flap opens to give you a surge in power. On the LC it's like a sudden 50hp jump.

I posted some earlier and added to the first post.
Post any questions I'll pick through them all tomorrow

I can’t wait to send in some logs for a custom tune with my exhaust!

That jump in torque is impressive!
Do you happen to remember the extent of the exhaust mods?

I’m pretty happy with power in the upper RPM range of this engine (no tune yet) If I could add that amount of torque and not loose the topend, this truck will fit my needs perfectly.

Will the custom tune with logs take into account tire size? If so, does it celebrate speedometer?

He said in the past that he has access to the multipliers for the speedo but he hasn’t done any calibrations to the speedo.
