So u clicked "download software pack" and can't find the zip files? Make sure you chose to save it to the desktop. If u see the zip files then u have to unzip them, and save it to desktop

I click download software pack it goes to 100%. It says it's complete. Nothing happens. Nothing on screen. And download flash tools is still light grey.

I think I understand this correctly but could use some confirmation. If I purchase "any" tune (handheld or PC based) it is locked to the specific truck once used. I cannot ever port the tune to another truck. Have I got that right?

BACKGROUND: I'm looking to trade up used 2016 to a potential 2019 model year over time and just want to know if my initial purchase choice matters on "what" I buy. I am expecting it is not portable in any way and I just need to accept each truck I want to tune is another $800ish.

    Thanks for any feedback!

That's how it used to be and still is until he started selling the hand helds. From what I have gathered, the handhelds will tune every tacoma with a ECU version greater then 04B02. So you can have 30 tacomas and flash them if you wanted to really.

That's what I thought. I have Windows defender turned off. I don't know what else would stop it.

not working with the hand held in person i can say from experience with other hardware, the hand held will be vin locked to your vehicle. if / when you return that vehicle to stock, that vin lock is removed. technically allowing for a different vehicle to be tuned but not multiple at the same time via the same hand held. some hardware limits the number of 'unlocks' and and there is a fee to unlock it for another vehicle plus the license purchase for tunes.

in the case of the dongled kits, that didn't appear to be the case and why i got 'in trouble' when i traded in for my current, though i wouldn't dare flash another person's truck as you could seriously be setting them and you up for some serious fail.

    dongless i'm not sure.

really the common sense thing to do is only even try to flash 'your' vehicle. if you sell it or trade it in, return it to stock and reach out to OVTune and ask what options you have regarding re-using the kit or selling it.

Previously, he said you just pay for an addional license. Not 100% sure how much but it wasn't full price, like $350. Same if you sell your hardware, the new person pays just a license fee.

I've been running 1.04 since it was released and have noticed lately on hills, even slight grades the truck doesn't want to shift into overdrive. Itll just hold 5th and stay there even if I let off if it until I'm on level ground. Has anyone else experienced this? I took a trip from LA to LV last weekend. First time taking the truck on a long trip through hilly sections and it was very prominent. Cant be good for the transmission holding gears like that. Thinking about having the truck checked out if no one else has experienced this.

It is better for the transmission to hold the gear versus shifting all the time.

Yea but what i'm experiencing is almost like it's stuck in gear and wont shift. Only on grades though. Flat or level ground its fine.

When the tune is initially installed, the vehicle has to “adjust” (I know very little about this stuff so pardon my terms) things like fuel trim. Maybe by disconnecting the battery, the vehicle has to “adjust” again as if it was just installed. I think there is a difference between the tune settling in vs learning.

Sorry SpaySquatch, I meant to quote the post you quoted.
