I believe Prairie Hawk meant to say "is not out quite yet" Some people have been given early access to 1.05 for testing/feedback to OVTune. 1.05 should be out before the end of the month at the latest, the 30th is just a place holder according to folks here.

So I got a question, has the torque curve been improved on the lower rpms? I think I remember seeing a post about that a while ago but I'm not sure if it ever got done or maybe it's planned for 1.05

I recently test drove a 2005+ 4.7 tundra and a 4runner and they felt great! There is not much hp difference between the vvti 4.7 and the 3.5 in the tacoma but mostly the overall torque and the rpm range where it comes in. If the tacoma felt anywhere near as good on the low-mid end that would be great.

Ok I figured it out, just re flashed it and it feels awesome again. Last time I flashed was March 17th and I can tell a huge difference from re flashing after 6 months of driving.

I have a 2008 4runner with the 4.7L v8, and my '17 Tacoma is OV Tuned and I'd say that with the tune, they feel similar, although you do get more of a sense of weight lower down with the 4runner, while with the tune the Tacoma has that to a lesser degree than it did on the stock tune. The Tacoma feels a bit lighter than the 4runner upon low end acceleration, and it's more linear while the 4runner downshifts heavily and then kicks you in the butt with its torque

Great to hear this from someone that has the 4runner, it definitely felt "heavier"? lower down compared to a tacoma and the throttle was also much better. No acceleration for a sec and then downshift after pressing the pedal like the tacoma does. What octane do you use the tune with, 91?

I just re flashed the 1.04 or whatever the latest one was. I've noticed the tune only last 4-5 months before some bad habits start coming back . The thing I noticed most was the not so smooth power band like feel when the truck hits 4,000rpm ( feels like a two stroke ) and the other issue was not being able to shift into 6th gear at a reasonable speed. I re flashed and as soon as I drove off I could feel more power on the bottom end again and that 4k power band went away and its all smooth on the rpm's through gears now.

Idk how else to explain it other than that the 4runner has great get-up-and-go, but it just has more of a sense of weight compared to my tuned Tacoma, but it can definitely get out of its own way when you need it to. You push the pedal, it thinks for a second, downshifts appropriately, and then shoves all the power you demanded at you lol I have a 6MT Tacoma and so I've got more of a direct control, but while on the stock tune it still just felt heavy and like it couldn't get out of its own way when I needed it to, and post-tune it feels lighter overall, more responsive to gas pedal adjustment, etc.

To answer your question, yes, I'm currently on 1.04R 91oct

Thought about it but never did. For comparison - my auto averaged 18.4 doing the same driving.

I haven't re-flashed due to Matt specifically telling us not to multiple times. But I have also noticed that odd tone at around 4k, and it's not as smooth as it used to be. If 1.05 weren't right around the corner I'd do it. I thought learning was gone. This confuses me.

I’ve never reflashed. I’ve concluded if I notice anything weird, it’s bad fuel and is fine the next tank.
