#5 - We have been told that it takes time for fuel trims, KCs etc etc to "settle in". For some reason though, throttle response changes over time in every tune file I've run- ON MY TRUCK. Delay becomes more pronounced.
Once it gets to that stage and levels out, it stays the same until the next flash - ON MY TRUCK. Others will undoubtedly have a different story.

Edit - if I have any minor problems with 1.05 91, it's straight to a custom tuning request and logging. Mat sorted out issues this way before, took no time at all.

I’ve noticed some bad learning behavior as well. I’ve attributed it to ECT mode. Seems like every time I’ve used it (which is not often at all) the truck starts shifting weird again. If I’m using ECT, I now do it in S mode since the truck does not learn is S mode.
    2017 w/ 51000 miles. @10,000 on 1.04

1.04 on 93. Have not reflashed, but disconnecting the negative battery cable gets rid of the bad behavior.

on 1.04r 87 and after 1,000 miles my truck feels like a dodge neon with a piston removed. Don't know what happened but lost that new flash feeling that we all love so much and then reality sets in and i pull out my bicycle and ride to work.

Been running 1.04 for about 7k miles. No learning. Because it’s not in my head.

Remember, this truck is weird. People have noticed changes in the way it drives from gasoline brand changes, ambient temperature swings. It’s very sensitive.

Hell even with the TSB I remember loving how it drove and then one morning after a long weekend trip... I didn't.

Resetting the battery helped a little bit but it didn't bring back that feeling either.

I wonder if it's all in our head:p

Back in the day we didn’t let our trucks idle after flashing. I remember mine changing after 250-500 miles, then it settled out. Given how good people are at reading (spoiler: they aren’t) I wouldn’t be surprised if at least some of the issues are a result of this again.

Nothing seems to make your truck happy though. It’s still crazy how different “the same” can be in these trucks

Well, coming from California, it was quite a positive change. We built a house for 25% of what it would cost on Nor Cal. I grew up in San Diego, but could not afford to live there now.

I traded a 17 TRD OR for an 18 MT Pro, and I'll be installing the 1.05 version. It seems that MT owners have less to complain about, but then the MT has fewer problems to begin with.

I was able to replicate my symptoms again this morning on my way to work. I'll be flashing back to the 87 file today and compare. I'll also keep better track of mileage since flash.

I'm curious if it's the TSB or the tune causing these issues now. I have never had this happen this noticable before.

I’ve been running 1.04 (91) since the day it came out. I have not gotten the TSB and I have not noticed any learning. I run 93 octane and normally use the same gas station. The only time I notice a difference in the way it drives depends on the weather which is normal.

Number 6 is a big factor.

The calibration has preset models that are suppose to replicate real world, except nothing is better than having actual real world data.
So the ecu takes real world variables, temp mainly and uses tables to adjust the models. Problem is there is more to the world than temperature.

-t's missing a critical component..doesnt even exist as a variable.
Manifold pressure and compensation based on baro. (At least I see nothing in the ecu for this and nowhere is a MAP sensor to be found)
That's part of the reason the trucks go nuts in the mountains, pinging, etc.
I see nothing in the ecu that takes manifold pressure readings into account for load.
Load is calculated by throttle angle, airflow, etc.
However you get more air at sea level for the same angle, so load goes up, ignition reduces.
But not at pikes peak, load reduces and ignition goes up, with no way to compensate appropriately.

Damn near every other manufacture on the planet has manifold and baro compensators as a part of the engine control logic.

Hell even Ford, Mazda have air density, and weight factors, burn efficiency tables.

Toyota has 5 billion throttle tables instead. If anyone is Familiar with old school ways of Honda tuning Alpha-N, where you tune based on throttle angles, it's kind of like this.
An extremely complex 4D Alpha-N based tune that uses MAF for fuel. It's the most backwards way of doing this. On top of using a freq based maf instead of voltage to gram, freq to fuel duty it's insane.
Toyota had some good reason though obviously.

Also my power is out until noon today I am sorry :(
