I honestly don't get the huge demand for speedo calibration other than to satisfy OCD. Yeah, your speedo is off with different tires. You do realize that the stock speedo is high by a few percent too right? So with +3% taller tires, your off by what 5%? at 100mph 5mph isn't going to give you a ticket, 100mph is.

It's exponential as you gain speed though

Only if you're tires grow/shrink in diameter as you increase speed. It's linear. It's a percentage of your speed.

it's not just the speedo. The ODO, distance to empty, all stuff in dash info center, etc. not THAT big of difference if you go to 265's/275's. But when you start getting 33"+ (which is very common around here) it starts to add up

I hope! OP mentioned he will address the most requested functions first so putting the blast out on this.

    BTW Nice quoting lol.
I didn't think I posted that much about it... less that then pictures of Hawaii at least :bananadead:

That is some nice quoting. Add me to the list, I'm about to throw some new tires on once mine wear out a little more.

This was addressed. If the dealership flashes your ecu, you must read it and send it to OV so you can get an updated tune. Do not flash with your original tune.

Humor me here..... So you're concerned about ~5000 miles (over 100k miles) adding up? Your oil change interval (10k miles) is only off by 500 miles. Your fuel economy calculation (assuming you usually average 20mpg) would only be off by 1mpg which I would call within the "noise" of driving habits and road conditions.

Whatever floats your boat guys, but I don't get it.

Just buy the hypertech calibrator if it is that important to you. I haven't had to worry about it the whole 2 years I've been running 285s with my calibrator. Better than waiting to see if the op can even do it.

I, for one, would love to be able to maximize the headers/exhaust on my 2.7

Love that motor to death and back but wouldn't turn down any healthy increase in power.

I think if is easy cool, but seems like something that won't be available till there is a handheld. Right now we are all getting custom tunes. If each of us, and I bet it's in the hundreds now, want this or that our updates will take even longer to get. I love talking about what OV Could do. Let's keep talking about it but understand that it probably won't happen till after 1.02 and the handheld is released, if ever. I'm most looking forward to the intake timing and trans adjustments 1.02 is going to include.

I use my scan gauge for all this. It would be nice but I have been getting by. I just add 7% to everything.

Can't speak for other guys, but I am running big tires and have calculated the difference of 1.23 X actual milage(in my favor). So that 100k would actually show 12,300 (less) miles... not 5000. Albeit this truck will never see that, and most other members here aren't that far off for calibration. but would still be nice to have everything accurate. I'm OCD for accuracy, if you couldn't tell.
That will be my last resort.

Yeah, larger tires = less miles on the odometer. 1.2% is 1,200 miles over 100k not 12,000.

BTW, this is a custom ecu tune. Tires and gear hold.......
OV tune cracked the Toyota ecu and can mess with sooooo much, here we are debating 1.2% differences in mileage. Lmao. What about the 16 different ignition maps?

My buddies Rubicon tuner does this. Just saying...

    • Speedometer Correction for Tires, Gears & Axles
    • Gains of 18-30+ HP & 24-30+ lb-ft of Torque
    • Includes Performance, Tow, Crawl and Economy Tunes
    • Front and Rear diff lock
    • Engine idle adjustment for winching operations
    • Customizable Digital Gauges & Backgrounds
    • Reads/Clears DTC Trouble Codes
    • 5" Full-Color High-Resolution Touch Screen
    • In-Cab Monitoring
In all honesty this brand new to Tacoma and I dont think anybody is expecting too much. There aint a damn thing wrong with posting what you'd like to see out of the product in the long run. In the future OVT will make it as marketable to as many folks as possible so might as well express interest to the guy that might be able to make it happen.
