Well, I’m stuck with the Taco :). Being in the mountains the last week, during which time we were hit with the rainy remnants of Michael, we were off road quite a bit and stayed at a camp that required a 2,000ft climb up a poorly maintained trail... we made it up and down many times with zero issue in some steep, muddy (trail was like a river in spots) conditions. After that trip my wife is a believer and went as far as to ask me to always drive a Taco. Damn truck may have its issues with tuning, gearing, etc., but there is no denying its capability off the highway.

You know what would "break the wheel"?

    Release of 1.05, that's what.

email questions / concerns to me and I do my best to get them answered. On this forum I have 900+ alerts 250+ PMs, it's impossible to keep track. It's 10x harder when someone from the forum asks about their order like I know them by usernames..
There is no "deadline" for 1.05. Testing, changing, taking feedback from members takes time. We really want 1.05 to be what people expect from this truck.

Haven't been very active this week on here, working on things in the background right now.

** also all the handhelds are on my desk, and will have more information about features and such next week**

No tune. Im just hestiant to drop $770 and still not be happy. Just waiting to see the reviews of 1.05. Cant get a good read on the pos/neg of this thread? My biggest compliant is the studder/missing at steady speed. And how much pedal play before catching a lower gear. Also i tow a Intech flyer that weighs 1000 -1500 and the truck roars in 4th @ 3300 rpms @ 70mph on flat roads.

I think the reviews are overwhelming positive. A few negatives here and there because they want their Taco to perform like a Porsche.

    Exactly this.

I just want improved drivability (which has gotten better with every tune revision)

Others think you should be able to buy the tune then go out to your truck and the the power has doubled by the time you get out there

Glad to hear you want it to act like a truck and not a sports car! I had an ‘06 and a ‘14, but both MT. My ‘18 is my first AT. HATED how it drove stock. I’m running 1.04 now. I don’t want to rehash everyone, but it’s just great. I don’t tow, so I can’t attest to how it reacts to towing unfortunately, so I won’t mislead you on that.

When i got my 2016, I REALLY missed by 2005 after a while. The interior was so much nicer but the power train was lacking for sure. I’ve been tuned for about the last year and I really don’t miss my second gen any more. It’s taken some time but this has come a long way in a year and I expect 1.05 to be another huge leap forward

    Yep. I agree.

I just hope it last just as long as my 06 felt like it was going to last and my 17 4Runner

I'm tuned on 1.04, when I tow a 8' enclosed trailer that weighs about 1800lbs, I could do 70 in fifth no problem with the tune. I regularly do 60 in fifth no problem. Average 14.5-15mpg.

I do about 385 miles a tank now, 90% highway. Average 20.5mpg. it would be higher but my commute is all right turns in the morning and left turns on the way home, so I lose two mpg in the afternoons sitting at lights.
