You know alot of us bitch about our trucks. Some of us are trading in our trucks. I for one won't be. Sometimes the grass ain't always greener on the other side. I just had a 2018 Silverado come in with 2,000 miles on it with several tranission codes and it won't go over 12 mph. And a 2017 Ecoboost Ford with 5,000 miles and multiple cylinder misfires. I'd rather deal with some quirks than that shit. Jmo.

I hear ya. Even though since I bought mine in early 16' my radio went out, my AC died, a little steering shake on certain parts of the highway (even on new tires), and the annoying as all hell "buzzy vibration" at 2000rpm (there's a thread in here for it) in the gas pedal and steering wheel I'm still keeping it.

    C'mon 1.05!!

I've had a pretty nasty steering wheel shake at 55-60+ mph myself, ever since the service performed a couple weeks back. Was hoping it would perhaps just work itself out but no dice, going to take it in and see what's what

maybe some of the tire balancing weights came off. Its happened to me and knocked the wheel/tire out of balance giving a speed based vibration.

Sometimes you can drive through a speed wobble. I’ve had to do that on my previous car. It would wobble around 50mph but if I drove through it to about 60 it would be relatively smooth.

So, I just spoke to the dealership and they are going to perform the TSB 00-58-18 for me on Saturday. Does this mean that I will have the lastest 04B04 and be ready for the 1.05 release?

IMHO Mat has done a great job with this tune..The difference between stock and 1.04A is night-and-day. I’ve purchased a lot of the other tunes out there for various vehicles and they have never changed performance as much as 1.04 has and it’s still being improved.Who do you complain to if you don’t like something about those tunes? You don’t -and I don’t see them actively working to make them better.Sometimes I think we tend to over analyze and maybe expect too much. Toyota doesn’t make it easy either. I don’t know of many who have been able to decrypt their Ecu. I almost took my truck back about a week after we bought it.Glad I didn’t now.
Take this for what it’s worth.I’m 71 years old, know little about computers, like to roll my own windows down, never use cruise control, and still like to off-road and go fast. I’ve owned or driven big block Chevelles, hemi ‘Cudas,etc.. None of them were perfect. They all overheated, leaked oil, sucked gas(only 30 cents a gallon),steeredterribly,etc..You lived with those things because they were fun to drive. My Taco is fun to drive again and it will get better. I can live with a few dislikes.

i keep telling people the ecoboost motors are buggy and unreliable but nobody listens. the bigger issues seem to be the plugs getting oil fouled and causing misfires. the latest generation of the 3.5 and 2.7 with dual injection may not have these issues but the previous 2.7 and 3.5 are iffy.

    Doesn't 1.05 include the TSBs?

Amen to all the above Ron. Mat has done a great job with this tune. I was leery early on because I've never tuned a vehicle before so I went the cheaper route with a Sprint Booster and a ShiftSensePro. After buying OVTune in July both SB & SSP have now been removed from my Tacoma because the truck actually runs pretty damn good now. Btw I'm 53 and my first car was a '74 Cuda rust bucket but I loved it! ;)

Also , yes , the proper 1.05 file will contain the benefits of the TSB ( not the actual TSB)as long as the truck has 04B02 or 04B03 also. So all is good so long as it is not still at 04B01 from what I remember reading .

I dropped my truck off for the 10k service and the ecu update. I was running 1.04 and didn’t remove the tune. Will there be any issues when I flash it again since I didn’t revert back to stock?

You will need to email mat for 1.04R which works on the latest tsb updated ecu's

I would say if you're planning to tune 91 or 93, and you travel often, a handheld is a must have.. unless you travel with your laptop. I've often found myself at gas stations that didn't have anything over 89, let alone 93 octane and would have been stranded as a result.

Having said that, since you have mods and may want a custom tune it's just a matter of paying extra for both the handheld and the custom tune capability.
