Wanted to post here to let everyone know we are switching back to using UPS for a majority of shipments.
It's that time of the year again, holidays and USPS Fraud is through the roof right now.

Those of you keeping laptop in your truck full time to flash tune, you are not worried about laptop battery exposed to high temperature? Heat is battery enemy number one. And worst, it could cause a fire. If you are at a gas station flashing tune, what if you have a dead laptop battery?

As far as I know, OVT handheld tuner contain no battery, operates on DC voltage sourced from the OBD II port. This seems to be a safer route to go.

    Thoughts? :pccoffee:

my post was meant to be sarcastic, but since you ask, it has nothing to do with with his post count. everything to do with researching on ones own to find an answer that's been answered in this thread many, many times...

F this thread, I'm unfollowing, not interested in vacation pics, pot laws, gas tax or high speed rails.

As Rafael from OV Tune pointed out the bigger question is how often you are going to use the handheld? The real benefit is the ability to change between the tunes for different octanes more easily. If you are going to be sticking with a single tune map then why not go the custom route and avoid keeping the laptop in the car?

I dont keep the laptop in there full time since most of the time, around here, there is access to the octane for the tune i am running. 93. When I go on trips, I always take the laptop so I can change the tune based on the available octane. The handheld will make this much easier without any prep work of charging (and keeping charged) the laptop battery.

Ive done it a number of times and only when away from my home area. Usually its in the mountains where 90 may be the highest octane available.

Ok, so some do, I just think the concern for exploding laptop batteries and hot swapping tunes is minute.

I would agree with that. The handheld is a great option. I bought one just for the ease of it all and since my laptop is getting kind of old.

I just went to the dealer and complained and they said they updated my PCM with the latest software per the TSB. I want to check but don't have my software to check it. I have a dongle and had 1.04 installed. Problem is I changed laptops a few months ago and now can't hook my dongle up until 1.05 comes out with the new link. Can anyone PM me the old flash manager software so I can verify they actually performed the TSB? Thanks in advance.

My purchase date was August 4th for the 2nd tune license (which is no longer available for sale) as I have a local friend with the dongle already. I'm currently still running stock, whichever version came from the factory with mine I'm not sure. I still have not flashed because I was told 1.05 release was imminent back then and here we are half way through October.

However my patience has paid off as I did not know at that time there would be a handheld release. I've now purchased the handheld version + data logger with my original investment of $325 deducted from the total. So just still over here patiently waiting for 1.05 to ship....

I wanted the handheld because it comes ready to go just plug and play, there's no computer required for back and forth emailing of files and codes because I don't want to wait, I just want to tune the day I receive the items. It's like getting your favorite toy for Xmas and then having to wait for a password to unlock it after you've opened the box!

So now all I do is lurk this thread everyday like I'm waiting for Christmas, if this tune is as good as everyone says it is, the more satisfying it'll be going from stock to 1.05!

I went from stock to 1.04r. It's like a whole new truck. I can't imagine going from stock to 1.05

If you have your cable and tactrix connector all you need to do is download the free techstream program to check for the update.
