    You’re right,
I’ve been following this for so long I never look back at the first page anymore lol. Handheld - general information: Handheld tuners will connect to your OBDII port and read your ECU. After they have collected the data they will be locked to your truck. If you have our kit(s) dongle or dongle-less, when you receive your handheld you MUST FIRST FLASH BACK TO STOCK before using the handheld.

    but for good reason!

here is something else being worked on for load tuning with 1.05.
This adjustment I've worked on this morning further stabilizes throttle and has better ignition ramp up for shifting.
    Further eliminating that "shift surge"

The truck will never be what you want it to be without changing the gear ratio at the differentials.

Yes, 1.05 is going to be a big advancement and make it a lot better but if you compare the gear ratios from the 2nd gen 5 speed to the 3rd gen 6 speed you will realize the first 5 gears are almost identical. Toyota added a 6th gear as a double over drive on our 3rd gens.

On a stock truck at 80mph you are at exactly 2000 rpms. Forget about bigger tires you’re at around 1800-1900rpms here. At this speed the amount of parasitic drag mainly from wind just doesn’t allow the truck to perform correctly. I want you to drive any other naturally aspirated truck and cruise in top gear and you will be anywhere from 2400-3000rpms which is a much more usable range for the engine to operate in. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on @OVTune by any means I’m just being real about the truck!

I know nothing about gear ratios yet, how does the 3rd gen 6 speeds compare to the 2nd gen 6 speeds, or were the 2nd gen ATs all 5 speed? My only 2nd gen experience was with my MT, which definitely had 6. And does anyone know why Toyota moved away from a combination that seemed to work pretty damn well, compared to this mess?

Manual doesn't have such gearing problems. :)

2100 at 60 in 6th (stock), ~2500 at 70. Starts pulling really nicely on OVT 91 tunes (especially 1.03B - damn stutters though)

    Giddy up.

Yeah yeah, mpg, sore knees, traffic blah blah.

I like the graphs cause I can see how Toyota’s tune resembles someone having a heart attack.

Agree with the regear - exactly what I thought when I added the 4.88's, and it made things much much better. Excited to see how it performs with 1.05!
