I agree. No offense to @acemastr but he drives flat roads and likes shifting into a higher gear to lug along. I drive back country roads with rolling hills and like to avoid downshifts to get up the slightest of inclines. I don't mind maintaining 2k+ rpms in all gears under 50mph.

Also city driving. Slow and go on hills. 1.04 clunks and jerks slowing to almost a stop and then tapping the gas to move another car length or two. Rinse repeat for miles.

I live in Tampa, it takes 30mins for me to drive 6 miles every morning. Traffic here is just the worst.

right there with you - and city driving is where this truck has always been miserable to drive with traffic. it takes me over an hour to go 13 miles most mornings so lots of stop/go. dating back to 1.01b, Ovtune made my commutes FAR less miserable though and newer releases are improving it.

yeah, that's a struggle for sure. but when off on winding mountain roads with ECT + Ovtune + S-3 I can have a lot of fun in this truck (and wore out my stock tires at 25k miles as a result) :)

Stock gears, but I'm also stock height and stock tire size (my Cooper 4S are a few pounds heavier but nothing very noticeable). I wouldn't lift this stuck and go to 34s w/o gearing though so I suspect you'll be happy

What we're seeing over the last couple of pages is exactly what you'll see when 1.05 is released. You cannot make everyone completely happy, we all have different takes on that. I'm all for perfecting the tune as much as possible, but you will see complaints. There are just too many variables to make a one size fits all file that everyone loves.... and on to custom tuning we go. Not trying to white knight for Mat or downplay criticism, it's just a reality with these trucks and the 2GR engine (and gearing in the A/T it seems).

I agree with this, although I'm not sure custom tuning is going to work out the greatest for OVTune. Imagine 2000 separate custom tune files in the helpdesk queue...realistically, I don't think it's possible for him to give all of them detailed attention. I think custom tuning is going to turn into a generic tune massaging based on experience as he moves through the custom tune files, eventually leading to a final version that won't offer custom tuning. This has got to end at some point, at some point he has to put this behind him. I think that's a reasonable approach for both the customer and the owner. Just my humble opinion.

How'd that testing go today OV?

Yep. All of this. And the ones shouting the loudest will unfortunately be the ones with significant modifications to their trucks, meaning that 1.05 truly had no hope of being the solution that custom tuning is/will be, and yet they'll ignore that and bash Mat. Smh

And before everyone starts quoting me about how they have a ton of weight with armor and their 4.88 gearing and whatnot and know that they need custom tuning and that they're the exception, yeah, I get it. But you're really in the minority. More people than you realize will fit my initial description.

Indeed. I'd rather see this being interative. We all know the tune won't be perfect. We're trying to rationalize waiting.

Totally agree. Thus the ??? as to return on performance for time taken to continue to tweak. Every tweak results in another tweak? Hopefully the cycle of tweaking will come to a close and we can move on. Release 1.05 and move on to custom tuning. Stock 1.04 works for me and I see no reason to think 1.05 won't be the same.
