So if i haven't had the dealership update my ecu and the 1.05 includes the updates, will my ecu still show the pre tsb id?

 

Not this whole thing again, your ECU ID will NOT change when 1.05 is applied

 

That's crap. How hard can that be to change. So the dealership could update me during service.

 

@OVTune I just got done flashing the test file and the logger will not run. I sent you an email detailing the problem. Win 10 laptop...

Yeah, it's been so long since I've seen it that all I remember is that it had Leslie Nielsen in it, lol. Maybe I'll give it a watch tonight

From what I've gleaned on here over the past few months is that while OVTune has minimized learning as much as possible, a lot of people do seem to notice learning "coming back", but it's possibly also just the tune 'settling in' over time. Some have been re-flashing the tune, and others have just been disconnecting their negative battery lead long enough to reset the system. So if you're missing that fresh TSB feeling, you could maybe try the battery trick and see if it helps.

 

I had an issue with the logger as well.

 

Why would they do that? People are having a hard enough time getting the dealer to update their ECUs even if they bring in the TSB paper and use all the keywords to get them to do the TSB and the dealers are still turning people down but you think that your dealer (without you asking) will just update your ECU out of the goodness of their heart and without your consent?
1) that won't happen
2) go home then reflash the tune
People need to think before complaining already

 

My dealer wouldn't apply the tsb even after i brought in the paperwork.

 

I had the truck battery disconnected while we did some welding today on the truck. After plugging it back in and driving home, the truck was much more lively with the throttle and ended up netting me 18mpg... which is crazy high for my truck. Im 14-16 pretty consistently when loaded with the rtt. So, i cant say anything about learning but after having it off the battery for an hour, it drove different, better, than before.

Has @mZiggy tested?? Maybe our trucks are going to melt down now that yours works. Then I’ll be sad

 

@riz_atx That has to be the "artificial intelligence" learning your driving habits and adjusting to them. What's dumb, is the fact that the Tacoma runs better before the AI learning and nets better fuel mileage. Toyota needed to have a "smart" drive mode where it can use the AI, a comfort or normal mode for mpg and smooth shifting, and a sport mode for performance. Maybe OVT will be able incorporate these types of "drive modes" for us somehow.

Mat replied quickly. Unfortunately, I forgot to specify AT or MT. I’m now waiting for the files, but I’m not overly concerned. Of course I miss the added goodies from OVT, but the truck doesn’t suck to drive after T-SB-0062-18 (Stumble at WOT).

 

Ask the service manager or better yet salesman if the new tacomas on the lot have the update applied. if he says yes then ask him who drove all those trucks to verify that they needed it.

 

About all this learning thing going on . I , probably like a lot of Tacoma owners , feel a big difference after a TSB or a new tune flash (friends truck 1.04 then 1.04R) . After a new TSB, battery reset or Flash , maybe we are all driving more aggressively , looking for a more responsive result . We feel it because it is there . Then we go back to driving normal . The trans learns in D what we normally do and adjusts to it . I have tried to only use S mode ( supposedly no learning ) after a TSB . Doing so seems to have helped . I have no love for the "D" mode .

Not every single person who asked will be receiving test files, I am sorting an issue out some people are having with the logger
