Also, don't try updating your ECU with a boot camped MAC. Apparently apple and techstream don't play well, even with a partitioned windows setup.

**NOTE/DISCLAIMER** before people who are looking to get tuned go crazy, my above text is in reference to updating your ECU to the newer post-TSB versions. It is NOT in reference to flashing OVT maps, which utilize different software. Many people use bootcamped/VM windows to flash their trucks with OVT. It's only when using Techstream that there appears to be issues.

I didn't have any issues flashing my ECU update via Bootcamp FYI. Still loving the updated TSB stock tune.

I had to talk to the service advisor a few times. I showed them pics of the tsb with the ecu and they gave in and flashed it for me. Just have to be persistent.

That's excellent news, but unfortunately you're not in the majority from what I saw following the initial wave of people updating their ECUs themselves. Unless they're all just idiots and the common denominator just happened to be Mac users lol

I believe most of the people having issues were mac users using a virtual machines to run techstream.

I know someone who is definitely not an idiot who ended up bricking his ECU running TS with a mac. Luckily, he works with hardware for a living, and with Mat's help he was able to pull the ECU for a bench flash to fix it.

Was that with techstream? My highway logging trips were longer than that..

Yep, straight up 04B13 is pretty damn good for a Toyota file. I found that some bad behaviour poked it's way through the longer I ran it, namely the bucking in 2nd. The throttle went a bit soft too, but that's happened on every file I've ever flashed.

Caution - Ginger Stepchild truck, take with huge grain of salt!

IIRC, one guy was using a non-Tactrix interface as well. Don't know what his OS setup was...

Edit: I mean, you don't HAVE to use Tactrix I suppose. But buying a cheap OBD cable off the interwebs seems like a good idea if all you want to do is read your ECU and maybe clear codes... but flashing and possibly bricking said ECU is a different story.

Definitely, but it still left a lot to be desired when towing. I flashed 04B13 and then took a trip to visit a friend about 9 hours away from me where I towed about 1500lbs or so, just a small flatbed and some kayaks and paddle boards, and it had me wishing for my tune again lol

Yes,I didn't see the need to send a bunch of massive files so I just sent several smaller ones that covered a variety of driving conditions/scenarios including, casual driving, aggressive acceleration and heavy load pulling hills...

    Yep, good stuff.

I guess what Techstream outputs just ends up being larger on disk than the CSV files that Mat's logger uses. One of my logs was somewhere between 5-10 minutes and used up ~250kb.

I can't speak to towing, but I could definitely tell the difference in midrange power between 1.04A91 and 04B13.
