Well technically you have 180 days to challenge them by opening a dispute for the purchase if you paid via PayPal but if that fails you could always do a charge back on your credit card if the refund is unsuccessful.

However I think this is a special case since OVTune currently has the market cornered. There are no competitors making this product for the Tacoma so the consumers have no choice. It's either OVTune or no tune. Even if 1.05 took another 6 months, what are we going to do? Nothing because there are no other options and we already pre-paid.

I think a lot of the frustration comes from a good place. The people truly believe in this product and they want it to succeed badly and for most it is not a cheap item to pay for something that realistically should've came factory equipped. This tune will mend the buyer's remorse and broken hearts from this shit box that Toyota calls the tranny.

I believe the clunk is related to the gearing we have, namely that the motor isn't quite torquey enough to pull the gears from a start but at speed supposedly give better mpgs. Makes sense since the engine makes more power than torque and it does so at higher rpm. I noticed it got worse when I went to 33s and I'm expecting it to get significantly better with 4.88s and turbos

Yes I already know 1.05 timeline has bit me in the ass. I haven't given up I just don't want to release something that isn't as complete as I want it to be.

I don't know why someone would even need to go the chargeback route on anything, we get back to people as soon as we can, ship as soon as we are, able 1.04, 1.04R tunes are sent out to anyone who currently has/buys a kit. People forget, or don't know, or simply don't care that we are a 2 person team and only have so much time in the day.
Would be easy if I could take an entire week and focus on 1.05 and nothing else but that's not possible, I fit it in while getting back to people, shipping, registering software, making tunes etc.
Usually I tell people we are closed on weekends but I actually still work, every weekend..

If I took a week off to wrap up absolutely everything people would want me burned alive for not responding to them.

The clunk is from the transmission downshifting to first gear

Hey man I respect your compassion to satisfy your customers, but one thing some people don't understand is you did deliver a product with the prviprev tunes.

You could have just dropped the mic then. I work in an industry with software subscription service, so your updates could be added costs if the owner wishes to purchase.

1.04r introduced a clunck on downshift that I never had before, but once the tranny warms up it disappears. Meh, doesn't concern me too much. Let's me know the clutches are not slipping. lol

1.04R is actually pretty good too. Everyone that's waiting should have gone to the dealer and gotten the TSB and then updated to 1.04R for the time being. Not gonna lie... I wish 1.05 was already released, but at least we've had options to update our trucks while we waited. If 1.05 is that much better than 1.04R that would be amazing.

I’m going to take this opportunity to mention again that most people here don’t understand development. You don’t just punch in some numbers and everything is done. It’s far more complex than that. In many cases, one change can modify multiple other variables. When you didn’t write the code or have documentation, the only way to figure out some things is make a change and see what happens or hope to find clues elsewhere in the code. It’s a very complex puzzle.

Not that long ago, there was NO TUNING available on the third gen and many people were dumping them due to their frustrations. If people are frustrated with anything, it should be with Toyota for what they released after 10 years. This is not what I expected after having both a first and second gen Tacoma.

I can say though that with the assistance of @OVTune this truck has become closer and closer to what I expected from day 1 with each iteration. Keep up the good work, it’s well worth the wait and worth doing right instead of cutting corners

Is this something the tune (1.05) will address? Or are new gears the only way to get rid of it.

I, as well as most others I'm sure, appreciate your dedication to the quality of the final product. I'm impatiently waiting for 1.05, but am content to wait as I know that when it releases you will have put the time into it to make sure it's up to the same quality we've experienced from previous versions. I won't say take your time, but I'm happy to wait for a quality release rather than have my impatience satisfied with a buggy release. Thanks for your hard work and for putting up with everyone beating down your inbox asking "are we there yet?"!

Print the TSB, make your complaint exactly what the TSB says, and if they still don't do it then ask to speak to the service manager. Be the squeaky wheel.

I had exact same problem, here is what I did and it worked, call them back and tell them you have the TSB printed out (i attached it for you, hope this is yours too), highlight the VIN, highlight the "Delayed engagement park to drive", tell them you have this issue (you need to present an issue) and tell the fools you are coming in to talk to the manager and lead tech. I did this, she said fine, we hung up, but in 5 minutes she called me back and apologized, said "they found it, sorry it wasn't in their computer" and proceeded to set up an appointment. Good luck!

It helps if you site the problem occurs at high altitude because unless they are at high altitude, they can’t teplicate it... unless the dealer is at high altitude. I guess if that’s the case, have a bong toke and wait it out... unless of course it’s illegal in your state, then maybe have a beer. There’s always the DIY option. I’m a techno-tard and probably would have given it a shot based on the great advise others have provided, but I don’t have a Windows machine. I ended up finding a dealer in Long Beach that not only did the TSB, but also turned off the seat belt chime. CABE Toyota on Long Beach Blvd... ask for Daniel.

Yup, i used the "Delayed engagement park to drive" and was prepared to tell them it only happens cold and i was not leaving the truck there overnight for them to verify it. They just did the TSB without question once i had a print out with highlights.
