Nearly all companies have made promises and missed deadlines, announced things and pulled them.
I think a big difference between us and those are those companies aren't handing out updates for free.
Hell look at Apple, one of the most successful companies on the planet, when they announced a new phone.. they made a sneaky update that makes older phones run slower...making you want their new phone. The biggest and most successfuly companies are all about numbers, money, and numbers. Look at Amazon. They don't care about anything but numbers, not even if their empoyees drop dead from exhaustion or have to piss in a bottle while running down isles to make quotas.

I think Apple does give free updates, I get them on my MacBook all the time and on my Android phone I receive free updates as well just like I would get free TSBs from Toyota unless you're speaking of an actual device upgrade like from iPhone 8 to iPhone X then no that would definitely not be free and Toyota wouldn't upgrade me to a brand new 2019 for free either. So if we paid something like $770 USD for this product I mean the updates are to improve and work out bugs/issues correct? It would be strange if we had to pay additional for those updates when it isn't a finished product in the first place so I mean they should essentially be free because I don't think comparing this to Apple or Tesla like the others have is a fair comparison. I think the difference is that one is a finished product and OVTune is not and if it were finished then there wouldn't be all the back and forth testing.

People pre-paid for an unfinished product which they believe in and it was a start up project since you said this would not have been possible w/o the first generation of dongle users and that is true because look how far OVTune has come today for the Tacoma!

1.01 was the actual Alpha tune,
1.02 was an update to it,
1.03 another update to it
1.04 is what I would consider the actual release tune
1.04R was a version due to toyota TSBs
1.05 is an all new, full release tune that fixes a few things + adds features people requested.
For example gear locking was never a feature we planned for from the beginning and for a while it wasn't even possible. It will took a long time studying the shift logic to figure out.

The new deadline is 12/31/2025. Now he can finish early and people will be happy for the project being completed so far ahead of schedule!

Same - my wife's Mazda 6 will let me bounce it off the rev limiter for a few seconds before it forces a shift. Up to that point I can do whatever I want - run it 6k RPM all day, lug it at 1500 RPM and it just holds the gear. It is friggin awesome. I need this in my Taco or I'm strongly considering selling it.

Matt is this already part of 1.05 or is this something you're just considering for a future update? Sorry I'm not too versed in this yet - I don't have OVTune yet I'm just following the threads trying to decide if I want to tune. If this is part of the tune then I'm for sure buying it ASAP.

On a side note now I need to figure out how to add paddle shifters to my Taco. The Mazda's console shifter is reversed (forward is downshift, back is upshift). Paddle shifters just for consistency's sake...

Sorry, it's hard to keep up with this thread. Last I checked was 10/31 and Matt was sending tunes out to certain people in order of who bought them first, so I thought it was done. My bad!
