I disagree...this would be a significant, functional change to the standard operation of “S” mode. It should be optional for those that want to drive their trucks like a MT.

Here is Mat’s clarification from the AT thread...it’s optional.

@OVTune do you have an idea when the handhelds are going to be back in stock?

Sounds like he is going to have many "standard tunes" between all the octanes choices and optional shift features for 1.05...as long as he thinks it's not too much work, that's fine by me...but exponentials get to be a bitch very quickly...

Thanks for assuming. I don’t want that function. It’s not necessary and should be optional.

I’d rather he finish the tune and leave the shift control as custom request.

So no, don’t think ‘most’ would want it. You do not speak for everyone here.

I agree with you as well, and Mat has confirmed that it’s optional.

While I really like the option, I agree that it poses a dilemma. It's a potential clear differentiator for the dealer. If they happened to activate that mode, it would be a red flag that 'something's wrong with the truck' or there's a tune in place. I don't tow yet, but I suspect that when I do tow it will be at the heavier end of the capacity; ie 4.5-5k loaded. That's probably the mode I would end up in... or at least want available. I suppose I could bite the bullet and buy the handheld. I could keep a non-S flashed, and flash an 'S' mode when towing.

Most of the tunes I've known that had special modes, didn't really take away a standard mode; ie valet mode didn't impact other modes. No matter what options Matt has to implement, I'll take it as he's designed it over not having it available.

Just a gen2 TRD shift knob so far. Anxiously awaiting ovTune 1.05 with handheld tuner!

Then remove the tune prior to going to the dealer.

You can do it with a laptop or handheld.

To rest all confusion, this shift lock is optional, not a standard 1.05 feature. You can have it, or not have it. Either way that you want.

However we are making a change to ECT mode that will be in both and it's something you absolutely want, I'll show you the data on later.
And this data is taken from "stock" TSB.
Actually I should say changes were made, it was done a while ago
