Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I'm still running 1.05 MA 87. I've got about 2250 miles logged thus far, but I'm a MT so if the shifts suck its my fault

Yup. Much more your fault since you're tuned.

We can still blame a wee bit of shifting mishaps on the accumulator though.. right?

What's wrong with the downshifts?

 

No need for an answer, he was running test versions for us, as a result he went through multiple different shift settings.

 

What other kind of stuff is being fine tuned? (communication helps us keep patient)

 

What we are working on, and the details of it are going to be limited until we are finished. Too much active communication around here has ended up being a problem.

 

Do you guys not have any other things to do in your life to keep you busy? I don’t understand the badgering from many posters.

 

Indeed, I've had nothing but test files from Mat so please don't think this is the be all and end all of the tune. We are testers, different branches of the test going in different directions and converging.

Don't speculate based on me giving that one single piece of feedback based on one single file I've tested on.

 

One thing I'd love to see is a fix for switching from D to S, where when you switch modes S-mode doesn't automatically start in 4 but matches the gear you're already in from D and lets you shift desired gear from there. I hate crusing down flat Interstate, hitting hilly portions, switching to S-mode and wanting 5 instead of 4 but having to shift to 4 and then to 5.

That would be a terrible standard feature, because it would do it when ascending, and also traffic.
Even my BMW requires a sport mode to keep revs up and use more engine braking.

 

Totally understand & agree with Matt's way of handling the information stream about the tune update.

Ran up the mountains this weekend. Left cruise on & when we stopped for gas you could smell my transmission. Left cruise off on the rest of the way up and it was noticeably better. Appreciate what you do Mat.
