I wouldn't say they're not the goal of most. I think Most would be happy with the normal MPG of your average vehicle: Better Hwy than City Mileage. Since day one the Tacoma has been the opposite for me. Decent economy in the city, shit on the Hwy. And that has done nothing but piss me off. Especially when it got the stated fuel economy in the City, and 30% worse than stated on the highway. That was BS.

I fucking agree this thing was built to decelerate though. I don't have to explain, you all know lol

The idea behind double overdrive is sound. However, Toyota built the Tacoma system incorrectly. The TCU mapping and insufficient tq/hp numbers are primary factors, but with the stock gear ratio of the A/T the truck will never be able effectively capitalize on the benefits of a double overdrive. Mat is fixing what he can. When he’s done, I will regear in order to acheive better drivability if 6th gear remains useless. Better mpgs might be a positive byproduct, but are not my primary objective.

I’ve found 6th I’d way more useful with 1.04R. Then most useful it’s ever been. I can actually speed up and stay in it on the interstate.

    changed your mind DES?

Hey comm. Mat isn't allowing that type of file sharing anymore and has said that anyone sharing tune files will be blacklisted or something of the sort. You have to go through the help desk for 1.04r.

Email Matt support@ovtune.zendesk.com for your 1.04r files. He asked for us not to share files here as it was becoming a headache for him to track who has what.

No, I didn't. But bubba has been on my ignore list for over a year as a result of posts he made in the past. On a whim I decided to see what he had to say today. I responded to his post (with a quote) but then after my response posted it looked confusing since I didn't see the quoted post in it. so I deleted it.

So i don't have to bug mat once he sends me the files...and i'm sure this has been covered but going back i haven't found it yet.

Which TCU files is used? The same 1.04 TCU? Also, is a different PCM flash tool needed for 1.04R or can the same version be used? Lastly, have any dongle users read their 04B04 ECU and TCU stock files successfully? I don't believe I read anyone who's done that or spoken about it. Just incase I choose to flash back to OEM if R isn't working for me.

And yes, i'm sure some folks have me on ignore. My opinions on certain things are not popular.

There are no more separate ECU and TCU files.

Mat sends stock files as well as tune files so you're good there.

    Same PCMFlash version. Nothing changes.

Ah, so the TCU is untouched from OEM. In other words, only flash the 1.04R ECU file.

There is no TCU file with 1.04R and I used the same PCM flash tool. I have verified the calibration ID but haven't read/saved the file since Matt sent me a stock O4B04 tune.

You're thinking too literally. The file you're sent updates everything it needs to, ECU/TCU etc. Just choose the P5 option when flashing (not the TCU one)
