A publication suggested the Tacoma would have near the same HP as the Colorado with a higher rev limit (Colorado revs to 6800). Can't find the article now though...

Can't say i foresee myself spending a lot of time up there, but i believe this motor makes peak HP at the 6k red line and it does sound nice up there. I would want it for the bragging rights if nothing else.

Camry makes the extra 28HP by the Rev limit extension.
Cut the camry down to 6000 and it will be same as this.

Also, interesting note the tacoma actual Rev limit is 6375, but you never see it

Yep. Problem is how useful it is.
You can do 7000 in first and second, by third you're speeding for most states.

Boost is still the ideal (and coming) option for the truck.

    On a truck, yes.

    On the track, no.

True. But we're getting groceries in trucks on 35s. We're not always making particularly practical decisions lol.

Just flashed 1.04R. I thought the TSB was a huge improvement so I’m looking forward to driving tomorrow to test this out! And obviously 1.05 when it’s perfected.

Really enjoying the added power of 1.04R. For some reason I’m having stumble issues that were less prevalent with the stock tune on the TSB. Overall I still like the drivability more on 1.04R. Excited to see 1.05 and then the custom tune.

There is definitly a little stumble in certain spots, but I think it’s because of 87 octane ???

87 octane option 1.04r/1.05 seems obsolete with the new TSB (for those who have it). I’ve been on 91 for 12 mos/42,000 miles. At roughly $0.80 difference in fuel prices, it’s cost me $1,800 extra in fuel for the year - or $150 a month. No complaints here...

Yep that's been me...waiting. I may just pull the trigger on 1.04r since I keep hearing good things about it. I had TSB 0062-18 update done just over 250 miles ago on my 2018 OR and although the stumble off the line is gone and it seems to hold gears longer it still hunts for gears and has odd rpm changes. What do I need besides my lap top to upload the tune to my truck? Do I need a special cord and does it come with the tune? Any advice is appreciated thanks

If you don’t have the tune already check page one for the options available. All choices are covered. You do need a special cable and a laptop.

i get more stumbles/hiccups with 1.04R (91) vs the TSB. Mostly under 1500 rpm under load like 6th gear at 45 on a slight grade. The TSB would stay in 5th. I still had little hiccups though that i could feel, but the 1.04R they are more prevalent.

Only other thing i noticed is it wants to upshift even more than the TSB.

Example: Stop light turning left. Easy take off and I'm in third middle of the turn. Go to accelerate and nothing. I have to push almost 25% throttle for it to down shift and get going.

That's the only time it does it. The rest of the time it drives fine. Maybe a bit more power but hard to tell.

I'm going to have to go back to the stock tune my 1.04R is giving me severe stumbles below 1800 rpms even on 93 octane fuel with the 91 tune. Might have something to do with the winter blend gas we get here in the northeast but it feels like it's damaging the drivetrain.

Same. Don't know that it felt like it was damaging anything for me necessarily but the stumbles and shift oddness weren't desirable so I'm back to TSB until 1.05 drops. At least we have options! :)
