Wow - Thanks so much Mat! I think this is a big part of why the truck feels like it has no power in the upper gears. You ask for more throttle in 5th or 6th and it ignores your foot and then decides to downshift for super minor grades. It give the impression that engine has no available power down low when actually it does but the wonky trans logic would rather downshift than let the trans hold the gear. Can't wait for 1.05!!!

This is really interesting (and impressive!). I was convinced that the double overdrive transmission and top-end nature of this motor were the primary problems with the AT Tacoma even after I discovered that this AT used in a LC in Australia paired with a 4.5 liter TT V8 diesel making 480 ft/lbs of torque at 1600 rpm is also pissing off people to no end. Your post above has me seriously second guessing that position now and hoping that I was wrong and that this AT will act as expected on "1.05." Thanks for putting in the effort to sort this AT out once and for all.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!! I hope you know how much this is appreciated Mat, including your blog post explaining it all. My 16' Tacoma, which is my first Toyota, has been damn near a nightmare for me with all the things going wrong (thankfully all fixed under warranty) and the engine-power/tranny-shifting issues, but I'm still buying it after the lease is up Jan 4 because that was my plan from day one, and because I'm feeling better that it might act like a normal vehicle with 1.05. Thanks again.

Great read. I'm so excited to see what this truck is like with 1.05... Keep up the good work Mat!

Just my 2¢,but I had a new Rav when my Tacoma was in for warranty stuff & hated it. Headlights didn't throw well, dash layout wasn't great, won't get into the rest, liked the sunroof. Lol

@OVTune, Mat, like others have stated, you put that tranny blog in layman's terms that I can wrap my mind around. Thank you for a outstanding product & top notch customer service. Not to mention the fact you deliver more than any other tune I've ever dealt with. Have a great Thanksgiving, not just Mat, but all. And also for all, think about what you seriously need to be thankful for, besides OVTuned tacos. :)

It's the same image but used twice to represent two different things. The ECU has identical things for up and down in some situations but it is two separate tables.

It was strange to me that the curves were the same for UP and DOWN shifting, thanks for the clarification.

@OVTune will you put the handheld back on your website for preorder? I like to take advantage of the Thanksgiving sale.

Finally pulled the trigger on ovtune. The black friday deal pushed me over the edge. Looking forward to getting this in and the future 1.05 release.
