I like my dongle , to be truthful . Others may worry about not being able to flash on the fly , say on a trip if a certain octane isn't available . You would need to have a flashing device with you in that scenario . I have never ran into that problem . Super easy to flash . I can get it done in about 5 minutes . Couple months ago I flashed back to stock just for fun , and I couldn't believe the truck sucked that bad when I bought it . I readily flashed back to 91 octane 1.04 . Get the dongle in your hands buddy .

When using the VSC button on this vehicle, we say that you are turning VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and TRAC (Traction Control) off.
You are really just increasing the speed/yaw rate limits that the ECU allows before intervening.

Usually when I’ve had issues it’s cuz the truck didn’t have enough power to keep going and bogged down

I just too my Taco in for the 25k service. I am friends with the service adviser and got me the TSB on the transmission. After it was done I did notice the truck shifting a lot better, but oddly it seems that power band feel came back right at 4,000 rpm again. Just to clarif what I mean by that, when I am on the gas climbing through the RPM's there is a sudden surge in power right at 4,000+ RPM's. I experienced this when I first bought the truck and also after about 8 months of installing my first Tune when "IMO" the learning came back and made the tune less noticeable. Before I did the TSB I had reflashed my truck with the latest OVTune 1.04 and I was blown away with the results. The power was back off the line, no more power band feel at 4k and just much better driving overall. Now it feels like the dealership may have messed with the tune when they did the TSB. Is this even possible? I wish I could somehow video this power surge I am talking about but I doubt it will be something you can see in a video, you would just have to drive my truck before and after to see what I mean.

Yes - you are back on the Toyota stock tune. You will need to contact Matt for the 1.04R tune that works post TSB.

No need to, we all know what that surge feels like and that's one of the issues that Ovtune has been working on resolving.

I can't wait till the cruise control is mapped. :frusty: After being able to smell my transmission burning I don't use cruise anymore because this is how I picture my truck...

Are you running both the tune and the always-on ECT mod? Have you ever tried turning the ECT off to see if there is a difference? I'm genuinely curious to understand the relationship(s) between the tune and the ECT PWR function, as I still don't understand how/why the tune itself wouldn't completely trump/negate the ECT PWR function altogether.

Got a Dirty Deeds exhaust system installed yesterday and did some muffler testing. Posted on the Dirty Deeds thread with some opinions. I’m far from an expert.

I am fairly confident I burnt my bridge with Matt by asking way too many dumb questions so I don't expect any replies from him these days lol. Is there anyone else here than can chime in and help me get that special version to flash? Or is Matt the only one who can provide this to me? I am driving across country in about a week so I would really love to have the power back before then.

    Thanks

Anyone experience what I can describe as slack in the drivetrain?
Like if you’re driving take your foot off the gas coast for a bit and what your foot back on the gas there feels to be some slop, like if you were waterskiing and the rope went slack and then taught

Yeah man, shit is all over the place, that's what OV's tune is for. To correct what Toyota has not taken the initiative to correct.

See OV's post here, it explains everything about the stock configuration and why it's a wreck.

You need to email him and ask for the file. He doesn't want anymore sharing of files. Mat is a professional and will definitely get the file sent to you.
