Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

It’s just one of those mods that if it actually worked, it wouldn’t cost but $5 at most to manufacture into the intake manifold or throttle body and it would come from the factory with it.

 

I think that what Mat has gotten himself into is "Release when perfect" when in reality it will never be perfect but, overtime and through iteration it can be made better. I wouldn't mind if the tune is released and then updated with new features instead of it always being stuck in development.

Yes lots of posts and a 16 Taco is what it takes.

 

Once 1.05 drops for everybody, aka full 100% release, the twin turbos are going on mats r&d truck so the turbos can start development. He’s hinted at this months ago because he’s not going to keep taking the turbos on and off just to write another naturally aspirated tune. If he was going to get another test truck he would have done that by now and it would have been a manual for all the manual users. Then he would need two more trucks, one manual and one auto for further development on both turbo and naturally aspirated tunes. Short and simple is once 1.05 is full release, that’s it for the tune. It’s on to the turbos unless Toyota decides to drop another absoultely massive TSB that dramatically affects the ecu/tcu again

 

If Mat wants to get 1.05 done and not come back to it so he can develop the turbo tune then it makes perfect sense to make it as perfect as possible.

 

I support mat having 4 trucks

He could sell them off as special OVTacos after he’s done with them and add a 10k markup like the dealers to, even more for the turbo taco. Sounds like a win to me

I can see you are new here. I suggest you search on Mat's posts in this thread and only read those if you read nothing else. If that is too much (it's still quite a bit of reading, don't know that I could read all of them if I was new here) then just read this one...amazingly, what you suggested is actually what's been going on for over a year now....it's almost like Matt has developed tunes before...

Have you consider moving to a Software as a Service model?

 

We will have different build levels that we will support, for everyone.
1. bone stock truck + 1.05
2. Mild modifications + 1.05
3. More mods / gears / larger tires + matching 1.05 (gear tuning, etc)
4. FBO / highly modified + matching 1.05
5. Boost


Toyota has kind of .. completely taken over us. We've made the decision that starting next year it's going to be the only thing we do. It's pretty much completely consumed us so it's meant to be. Tacoma 3.5 / Tacoma 4.0 / Tundra 5.7 for 2019.
Which means that our focus on what we will be doing with this platform (if you haven't noticed recently will be greatly expanding).

So like I said before 2019 is going to be a great year to have a Tacoma ^_^.

And I'd love to have 4 tacomas but there has to be room for a Tundra in the stable.

We are working with a few people for 4Runner stuff. That isn't going away, But not timeline on it quite yet. We've also spoken with Magnusson about the SC setup..

Overall we are very happy with the decision. The amount of Toyota owners vs other things it's like 100 : 1 so...
