I believe you are correct on this now that you brought it to my attention. If that's the case it shouldn't be a long wait even if they sell out. Thanks

Like so many have said already, I cant wait for this tune! Looking for a more "natural" drive, any extra power is just a plus!

I would agree.. 20 kits will be gone in 10 minutes after you enable the "Buy Now" button on the website!

And, yes... thanks for the updates and technical explanations of the inner workings of the Toyota ECU.

I think you'll find the market when you start the 2nd gen thread, be good to separate the 2 to avoid any confusion.
Looking forward to seeing what you can do for us!

There's plenty of people in line for that. Tuning the engine isn't rocket science, even if cracking the ecu and making sense of it is. If these guys are good enough to get into a Toyota ecu considered by the company contracted to design it as well as by Toyota itself to be uncrackable, then one would think their work once they get into the ecu likely wont disappoint either.

So, I don't want to sound like a dick, but a small V6 engine runs at a higher RPM than a large displacement Diesel. 2000 rpm is fine for loafing along conserving fuel. You need to drop to 4th to hit the power band to pass a vehicle or whatever. That will put you at around 3500 RPM? Try it some time. Its called downshifting.

I hope it works out for those who want to do it. I just would not take the chance. If it fails then what is next route to take. I don't think telling Toyota what you did would be looked upon very favorably.

Its not that quite exactly. Say I take a right hand turn, turning, then get on the throttle. The tranny/engine/ECU gets lazy and drops to 1200 rpms when I'm attempting to accelerate again. I'm getting pulled by every car in traffic. The ECT button does solve that though, at least for me it does. Most of my gripes is really from city driving up to 45 mph. Otherwise I'm good.

To add to this, if you tow from time to time like me. I'd prefer some more low end torque instead of revving out the engine. Hopefully this ECU flash wakes it up on the bottom to mid range.

I can't wait until it's available for the manual transmission. My truck has severe throttle lag. My MT fj cruiser would just go when you release the clutch and leaned on the throttle. This truck kinda bucks back and forth and finally takes off.

@ovatune So it looks like you guys got the engine mapping and tranny mapping figured out. Have you looked into other benefits? Perhaps you can reprogram to allow rear locker any time or even MTS outside of 4 low range?

Id like to have a 500 hp inline 6 diesel in my taco.
Id still have to downshift once in a while from OVERDRIVE!!!
If you are loafing along at 2000 rpm, turn a corner, and then go to accelerate, YOU HAVE TO DOWNSHIFT!!
I drive a full blown CAT powered semi, it only runs up to 1900 RPM, and I have to downshift it to get the RPMs up if it is that low.
The number of people on this forum that don't know how to drive CONSTANTLY amazes me.

Combination of things - regular <1 Lambda O2 readings along with negative fuel trims along with intermittent (and often multiple) actual misfires and occasional issues with cat / exhaust in addition to poor MPGs consistently. Crap that should not be happening on a new truck..........

    @Chile Verde
I never had to downshift an automatic transmission, only with my right foot if thats what you mean. I rented various vehicles due to my job that requires me to travel. Without a doubt, these Tacos factory ECU maps are on the conservative side. Driven my 2nd and 3rd gen back to back as well.
